Description

American Traveler is hiring an Invasive Cardiac Tech (Cath Lab) with a minimum of 3 years of experience for a high-acuity cardiac interventional unit at a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Details
  • Cardiac catheterization lab within a 933-bed Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Milwaukee, WI
  • 15 total labs shared between Cath Lab, EP, and Hybrid; travelers work exclusively in the Cath Lab (approximately 11 dedicated Cath Lab rooms)
  • High-acuity, fast-paced lab performing 24–40 cases per day; adult patients only, no pediatrics
  • Cath Lab procedures include diagnostic cath, interventional, RHC, LHC, STEMI/NSTEMI, CTO, valvuloplasty, Cardiomems, biopsies, atherectomies, staged PCI, IABP, and Impella; ECMO experience preferred
  • Peripheral diagnostic and interventional cases, including some fistulograms
  • Hybrid experience (AAA grafts, thoracic grafts, clips, TAVR, Watchman) preferred but not required
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • EMR: Epic (experience required); equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, GE C-arms, Volcano, St. Jude, EKOS, GE Pruka (Maclab) hemodynamics, Fuji and ProSolv PACS, and Maquet IABP
  • Rotating day/mid shifts; 8- or 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM–2:30 PM, 11:00 AM–7:30 PM, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM, or 6:00 AM–6:30 PM) or a combination to meet 40-hour weekly requirement
  • Occasional weekend shifts scheduled; weekend call (Friday–Friday) required approximately every 2–3 months
  • Call required as needed; call runs end of shift until 6:00 AM the following morning with a 30-minute response time
  • No floating required
  • Local candidates accepted
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab experience required
  • RN candidates: current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
  • RTR candidates: current BLS, ACLS, ARRT(R), and WI license required; RCIS preferred; license required if applicable
  • Proficiency in Cath Lab and peripheral vascular cases as listed
  • RN candidates must have experience with conscious sedation and titrating/managing drips
  • RTR candidates must be proficient in scrubbing and panning
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Must provide at least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration
  • COVID vaccination required
Additional Information
  • Permanent staff will monitor cases; travelers will not be expected to manage cases independently
  • Robust unit support includes housekeeping for room turnover, storeroom staff, daytime transporter (6:30 AM–8:00 PM), Receptionist/HUC (6:00 AM–8:00 PM), Charge Nurse/Lead Tech, 24/7 RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Cardiology, and a Critical Response Team for codes
  • 1 week of orientation provided
  • Travelers typically do not work holidays
  • Facility adheres to a fatigue policy: staff may not work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved
  • Scrubs provided; free parking available
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply
