SCHEDULE:
  • (3) 8 hour shifts with start times varying from 6:30a - 8:00a
  • On call for nights, weekends and holidays - (1x per week and every 4th weekend)

Unit Summary:
ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah has a long history of providing stroke care for the communities in Northeast and Central Wisconsin. The hospital was one of the first certified Primary Stroke Centers in the state, and is now the fifth hospital in Wisconsin to be recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
The Specials Department consists of 2 rooms (with fluoroscopy) and is a fast paced dept. The team provides intraprocedural care for patients having minimally invasive procedures in the field of Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, and Peripheral Vascular. The team provides care for patients having strokes, cardiac catheterization, nephrostomy tube placement, vertebroplasty, biliary tube placements, lower extremity and peripheral angiograms/interventions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Prepares patients and assembles and operates hemodynamic equipment during interventional cardiac procedures for diagnosis of heart disease.
  • Assists physician in performing invasive procedures and performs related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging such as administering contrast to demonstrate catheter location and position, and documents results.
  • Monitors and alerts team of life threatening changes in patient status and responds with assistance during emergency procedures (including CPR and defibrillator when required).
  • Assists with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant with competent knowledge of equipment and supply options.
  • Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images, identifying patient name, medical record, and location/position of scans.
  • Ensures that images are of diagnostic quality and assists biomed in evaluating digital equipment to maintain consistent image quality

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree in radiologic sciences or 24-month AMA-approved radiographic technologist program
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), RT (R) or RCIS
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire
  • Current State of Wisconsin license as radiographer

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a healthcare setting
  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electric shock
  • Occasional high noise level
