Job description

This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions. 

The Generalist Process Operator I, will perform a variety of responsibilities within the production facility assigned area, including operating mechanical machinery and equipment, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting basic issues following established policies and procedures and frequent guidance. In this role, you will be assigned different work areas as needed to ensure production goals are met, support production of quality product and maximize throughput while following all safety and regulatory polices.

Job type: permanent

Shift available: 1st shift

Compensation: $25 - $28 / h  depending on the qualifications

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operate equipment and technology tools in assigned area of the production facility, learning and utilizing basic understanding of policies and procedures to perform foundational, clearly defined processes.
  • Perform variety of responsibilities in identified area that may include loading and unloading bulk materials, packaging, terminal operations, mixing, monitoring computerized control systems and making infrequent basic machine adjustments.
  • Learns operating procedures, receives input from peers and may provide feedback on clarity and effectiveness of guidance, including procedure documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoots assigned equipment and processes, collaborating with the team to resolve.
  • Record production and inventory activities in computerized systems.
  • Operate mobile powered equipment (i e Forklift, Skid Loader, Sit Down Floor Sweeper, Front End Loader).
  • Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, maintain a safe and clean work environment and control work pace and progress on assigned equipment or processes, requiring awareness of links with other process areas.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements: 
 

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada 
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, may be required to lift up to 50lbs, occasionally, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written) 
  • Must be able to work in various weather, industrial and agricultural settings
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays with advance notice  


Preferred Qualifications 
 

  • Basic mechanical aptitude 
  • High School diploma or Equivalent 
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to operate machinery 
  • Able to operate heavy equipment 
  • Prior experience in production related work
