DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Operations

JOB TITLE: Operations and Safety Assistant (On Call)

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

HYBRID ELIGIBLE: No

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: On call- Part-Time

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

REPORTING REQUIREMENT: Essential

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provide on-call support to the Operations and Meal Services departments on an as needed basis.

PRIMARY JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Provide on-call support to the Operations and Meal Service departments on an as needed basis
  • Monitors all areas of Shepherd's Table spaces to make sure they are safe and clean
  • Provide security for Meal Services by organizing and monitoring the meal line and dining room before and during meal services.
  • Provide verbal de-escalation techniques to address incidents when they occur
  • Document and report all incidents through an incident reporting tool within 24 hours of the incident occuring
  • Reporting any vehicle maintenance issues to the Shepherd's Table Director of Operations
  • Reporting any facility maintenance issues to the Department of General Services and Shepherd's Table Director of Operations
  • Must be flexible and willing to report to work on short notice (2 hours before shift)
  • Receive and stock donations, greets all donors with respect and friendlieness and ensures that all donations are recorded, and donors recieve a donation slip.
  • Ensuring that contracted meals are delivered according to schedule.
  • Driving to pick up food and supplies from various local agencies and urban farms to support kitchen meal operations
  • Identify food fit for donation based on ServSafe guidance

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Participates in required training and development activities
  • Fully cooperates with the organization's compliance and continuous quality improvement (CQI) program
  • Creates a safe work environment and uses sound judgement in interactions with clients and staff to maintain safety
  • Reports to work on time daily and use time clock appropriately
  • Performs other related duties as assignment.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED; Minimum of 1 year experience working with vulnerable populations or strong customer service
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED: 3 plus years experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Required License/Certification: Servsafe Certification (within 90 days of hire), Valid Driver's License
  • Preferred License/Certification: N/A

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires work in both indoor and outdoor environments. It could also require extensive driving responsibilities. The workspaces may or may not include heating and air conditioning controls. Standing, kneeling, bending, walking, carrying, climbing, crouching, and stooping may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May be required to sit or stand for long periods. This position may be active and requires driving, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.
