Position Summary

The Farm Mechanic 2 is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and preventative service on farm machinery and equipment. This position works independently on standard repairs and troubleshooting while supporting overall shop operations. This role requires solid mechanical knowledge, the ability to diagnose routine issues, and a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient equipment operations, aligned with the company’s values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency, and Stewardship (EATS).


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on farm machinery, including tractors and equipment.
  • Responsible for completing assigned repairs within established timelines and proactively communicating delays or issues that may impact operational uptime.
  • Independently diagnoses and repairs standard mechanical and hydraulic issues.
  • Disassembles and reassembles equipment, tests operation, and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
  • Reads and interprets work orders and repair requests.
  • Inspects equipment to identify damage, defects, or wear.
  • Installs replacement parts and ensures proper functionality.
  • Performs in-field repairs with limited supervision when necessary.
  • Provides training, guidance, and hands-on support to other mechanics to support skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Drives trucks to transport tools and equipment for field repairs.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained and safe for operation.
  • Completes maintenance reports, work orders, and purchase documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicates with supervisors regarding equipment performance, safety, and repair needs.
  • Participates in safety inspections, meetings, and incident reviews.
  • Escalates advanced electronic, hydraulic system failures, and recurring issues to higher-level mechanics.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
