Reports To: Farm Manager / Executive Leadership
Position Summary
Executive Management, LLC is seeking an experienced Hands-On Thoroughbred Assistant for our Florida and Ohio farm locations. This role is responsible for supporting daily thoroughbred horse care, assisting with farm operations, and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of horses and related facilities.
This is a hands-on position requiring direct involvement in daily horse care, farm maintenance, and operational support. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and effective communication skills, along with a deep respect for thoroughbred care and safety.
Due to the nature of equine operations, candidates must reside on the property or within 10 minutes of the farm location to support time-sensitive needs and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
Thoroughbred Care & Handling
  • Assist with daily care of thoroughbred horses
  • Feed and water horses according to established schedules
  • Turn horses in and out of paddocks and stalls
  • Groom horses and assist with general care
  • Monitor horse health, behavior, and overall condition
  • Report any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral concerns
  • Assist with veterinary and farrier visits as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of care and observations
Barn & Facility Maintenance
  • Clean stalls, barns, and paddock areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of barn facilities
  • Assist with bedding, hay, and feed management
  • Clean and maintain water troughs and feeding areas
  • Support upkeep of fencing, gates, and barn equipment
  • Assist with general farm and property maintenance
Horse Handling & Safety
  • Safely handle thoroughbreds in various settings
  • Assist with horse transportation preparation when required
  • Follow established safety procedures and protocols
  • Ensure safe working environment for horses and staff
  • Assist with turnout and exercise routines as directed
Operational Support
  • Assist Farm Manager with daily farm operations
  • Support inventory tracking for feed, bedding, and supplies
  • Assist with seasonal farm tasks and maintenance
  • Support facility readiness for visitors, veterinarians, or inspections

Florida Location - Preferred Experience
Candidates for the Florida location should ideally have experience with:
  • Year-round horse care operations
  • Heat and humidity management for horses
  • Storm preparation and weather contingency planning
  • Pasture and turnout management in warm climates

Ohio Location - Preferred Experience
Candidates for the Ohio location should ideally have experience with:
  • Seasonal horse care and winter management
  • Cold-weather horse care and stall management
  • Winterization of barns and water systems
  • Seasonal pasture and turnout planning

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of thoroughbred or equine care experience
  • Experience handling thoroughbred horses preferred
  • Must live on the property or within 10 minutes of the farm location
