TITLE: Family Services Coordinator

REPORTS TO:  Family Engagement Manager
JOB GOAL: The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for support services for Pre-K families, assisting parents in learning about and using community resources, working with parents on goal setting, and encouraging parent engagement and participation in their child's education.  The Family Services Coordinator supports and assists families as they identify and meet their own goals through a case management model aligned with the Family Partnership Agreements.  This position also assists with the completion of the child health requirements and other required screenings and assessments. 
QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate's degree in human services, social work, family studies, early childhood education or similar field of study required, Bachelor's degree strongly preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, community partners, children, and families in the provision of high quality services and resources to the Pre-K programs;
  • Ability to work in a diverse workplace with diverse families and needs;
  • Working knowledge of and sensitivity to the child care issues of low income, at-risk children and families;
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve, organize work, meet schedules and deadlines, follow directions and take initiative;
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and independently with little or no supervision;
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite products and an ability to learn and work with multiple databases;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred;
  • Knowledge of Pre-K programs;
  • Willingness to expand technology skill level;
  • Mandatory physical and tuberculosis (TB) test required upon hire and physical and TB screen every three (3) years thereafter;
  • Certification (or willingness to obtain) in First Aid and CPR;
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. 
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide support to all families within his/her caseload, including, but not limited to, relationship development, developing Family Partnership Agreements, home visits, goal-setting process, and assisting in the research to obtaining necessary community services and supports.
  • Work closely with all content areas to ensure successful collaboration in carrying out the Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework (PFCE).
  • Collect and record information and data in a timely manner.
  • Perform ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance) duties as assigned, including monitoring attendance, outreach, recruitment, and maintaining a consistent enrollment for the program.
  • Perform data entry and assist in tracking information regarding ERSEA.
  • Ensure regular communication with families regarding screening, assessments, and surveys in order to provide needed information regarding medical and social services as needed.
  • Serve as the link between families and program services such as health, mental health, and disability and ERSEA requirements according to Head Start performance standards, while maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of family related services.
  • Engage parents in their children's learning and development and support parent-child relationships, including specific strategies for father engagement.
  • Develop relationships with parents and structure services to encourage trusting and respectful, ongoing two-way communication between staff and parents to create welcoming program environments that incorporate the unique cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds of families in the program and community.
  • Collaborate with families in a family partnership process that identifies needs, interests, strengths, goals, services and resources that support family well-being.
  • Provide support for Parent Committee and Policy Council meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Child and Family Case Review meetings with appropriate staff to fully integrate PFCE and School Readiness goals.
  • Perform other duties as specified by the Principal, Head Start Assistant Director, Family Engagement Manager and/or as may be determined by the District. 
     

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly, non-bargaining employee.  229-day position (Board Regulation 4140.23)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
