POSITION: PT Marriage and Family Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Counseling General
DATE: October 3, 2025
HOURS WORKED: 10+ Sessions per week; some evening hours required
SALARY: $40 to $80 per session
FLSA: Exempt
Job description:
Redeemer Counseling Services (RCS) seeks a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor/Therapist or Biblical Counselor with couples counseling experience. We are looking for a therapist who is highly motivated to learn our unique framework for integration of theology in psychotherapy and apply the framework in practice. The therapist will provide counseling sessions for couples, families and individuals. They must have a strong interest in integration of theology in psychotherapy and be an active member of an evangelical church. Experience with biblical or gospel-centered counseling is preferred.
The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with one day per week in-person required for sessions and group supervision. To meet client demand, some evening hours are required. Scheduling clients and individual supervision is set by the counselor. We are looking for strong case management skills including accurate documentation, correspondence with clients, and collaboration with other care providers.
Requirements:
Counseling:
  1. Provide regular psychological counseling to couples, families and individuals, while growing skills to integrate theology and psychotherapy
  2. Meet or exceed the minimum of 440 sessions annually
  3. This role is expected to pursue training and supervision to fully understand and apply Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (GIFT)
  4. Demonstrate learning and application of the core values of RCS and care for staff as well as RCS as a ministry

Compliance to best practices of the profession:
  1. Complete appropriate and timely documentation including initial evaluation, progress notes and termination summaries in data management software
  2. Keep accurate records of attendance and payment; complete insurance letter requests
  3. Active collaboration with the Administrative Team in regard to scheduling, clarification of policies and procedures
  4. Adhere to the code of ethics
  5. Return calls of clients within 24 hours
  6. Schedule/cancel appointments in timely manner
  7. Consult/Collaborate with other therapist/doctors for client care
  8. Case management: return calls, schedule and cancel appointments, complete other case paperwork as required

Staff Meetings:
  1. Receive support and training in a weekly group supervision
  2. Receive support in regularly scheduled individual supervision
  3. Attend annual all-staff meeting and occasional required annual trainings

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (or other related fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or Biblical Counseling)
  • Post-graduate experience counseling couples
  • New York State licensure in the profession is preferred. Clinically-informed Biblical Counselors with five or more years of post graduate experience also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated commitment to documentation and best practices of the profession
  • Strong interest in integration of theology and psychology
  • Member of a church
  • Theological alliance with Redeemer Counseling Services: assessed using Employee Questionnaire during application process.
  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or approval for medical or religious vaccination exemption is required for all employees at the RCS office.
