Job description

Position Description: SUMMARY: The FIRST (Family In-Home Resource Support Team) Supervisor is responsible for supervision of direct services and engagement to the children and families at risk of a removal episode. The FIRST Supervisor mentors and supports Family Care staff to engage families by providing strength-based and solution-focused services aimed at restoring families in crisis to an acceptable level of functioning. As appropriate, the FIRST Supervisor works closely with the Lead Clinical Engagement Specialist, who provides or oversees clinical services to the family, to help the family remain intact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Supervises family care staff in the delivery of services aimed at helping families in crisis reach an acceptable level of functioning to keep the family intact.
Ensures case management and family preservation services are provided to families with problems of emergency or crisis nature.
Monitors and ensures that family care staff, makes all home visit in accordance with the contract terms.
Assist management in the selection process of candidates to be interviewed and participates in the interview process of candidates being considered for the vacant position, as needed.
Evaluates performance and consults with HR when performance issues arise.
Review initial risk and safety assessment prepared by family care staff to determine if program is appropriate for family.
Review initial assessment prepared by family care staff to determine if the service plan is appropriate for the family.
Connects family with all identified services within the community, when needed.
Ensures that family care staff follows up and obtains information and recommendations from all providers working with the family.
Plans and facilitates Family Team Meetings as needed and appropriate.
Monitors all documentation for quality and completeness.
Monitors child and family progress in the implementation and execution of the preservation plan.
Communicates with Clinical Engagement Specialists, Family Care Managers, Case Managers and Family Advocates (as appropriate) on a daily basis as to any changes and/or concerns regarding families.
Ensures staff follows program policies and procedures to ensure the protection and safety of children in the care of the program.
Monitors case records for families and inputs services provided and assessments into FSFN, when needed.
Must be willing to work after hours, weekends and be on call to deal with emergency situations.
Acts in the absence of the Executive/Program Director.
Assists with the development and ongoing tracking of the program to ensure goals and outcome are being met.
Utilized experience to assist with training of staff.
May be called to testify in court.
Completes other assigned duties as tasked.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters degree in social work or degree in a related human services field and four years' experience in child welfare, case management and/or related area; or a Bachelors degree in social work or degree in related human services field, plus five years' experience in child welfare, case management, and/or related area. Experience in a temporary or permanent supervisory role is preferred. Child Welfare Case Manager certification required.
BASIC SKILLS AND GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Small group meeting management and Family Team Conferencing
Proficient knowledge with community services in all facets
Proficiency in FSFN (Floridas Safe Family Network)
Ability to work effectively under high stress situations
Training in abuse and neglect of children
Competence in identifying risk and safety
Ability to write risk assessments
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid and current drivers license; appropriate insurance and reliable car.
Must submit to and pass an employment drug test.
Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.
Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
Must complete a minimum of 40 hours of in-service training annually.
Advanced computer skills in Windows environment.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including but not limited to: Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Visio.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to formulate opinions and recommendations that are applicable over a wide array of programmatic functions.
CULTURAL COMPETENCY: Ability to relate, understand, accept and interact in a culturally sensitive manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
