Family Assistant / Household Manager
Position Overview
A warm and busy family in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Part-Time Family Assistant / Household Manager to help create greater organization, consistency, and ease within their home.
The family has children, pets, and an active household with ongoing projects, maintenance needs, and periodic entertaining. They currently employ cleaning, laundry, and childcare support and are looking for someone who can work alongside the existing household team while taking ownership of household coordination, organization, some meal support, errands, and special and seasonal projects as needed.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable working independently. This person should naturally notice what needs attention, create practical systems, solve problems, and adjust those systems to fit the family’s lifestyle.
Position Details
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Position: Family Assistant / Household Manager
Employment Status: Part-Time
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Schedule
  • Approximately three days per week
  • 4-6 hour shifts
  • Flexible schedule to be mutually agreed upon by the family and candidate
Compensation
  • $40.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience

Primary Responsibilities Household Organization and Upkeep
  • Organize and maintain kitchen, pantries, closets, storage areas, and other household spaces
  • Create and maintain practical household systems
  • Return items to their designated places and help keep the home organized
  • Complete light daily tidying, including resetting common areas, wiping counters, and loading or unloading the dishwasher
  • Coordinate seasonal organization and household resets
  • Identify items that need repair, replacement, donation, consignment, storage, or disposal
Meal Preparation and Kitchen Support
  • Prepare simple, healthy meals, snacks, and meal components
  • Wash and prepare produce
  • Assist with weekly meal planning and grocery lists
  • Maintain an organized refrigerator and pantry
  • Monitor expiration dates and remove expired items
  • Restock household food and beverage staples
  • Clean and reset the kitchen after meal preparation
Shopping, Stocking, and Errands
  • Track and replenish groceries, household supplies, toiletries, paper goods, and cleaning products
  • Complete grocery shopping, returns, dry-cleaning pickup, package drop-offs, and other local errands
  • Receive, organize, and put away deliveries
  • Maintain a simple household inventory
  • Research and purchase household products as requested
Household Coordination
  • Periodically Schedule and coordinate service providers, repair professionals, and home maintenance appointments
  • Be present for occasional deliveries, service visits, or installations
  • Communicate with the housekeeper, nanny, and other household vendors as needed
  • Maintain a household calendar for appointments, maintenance needs, and recurring services
  • Notify the family of repair or maintenance concerns
  • Help prepare the home for guests, gatherings, and family travel
