Job description

Job Overview
At M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank Campus we are committed to providing outstanding healthcare in a setting where we specialize in innovation! We continually aim to improve our patients' lives by delivering outstanding outcomes using groundbreaking technology and treatments while balancing patients' needs.
Our partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians provides the platform to specialize in breakthrough treatments, surgical techniques, lifesaving therapies and to train tomorrow's physicians! Clinical trials advance our clinical services, bringing the very newest ideas in patient care.
We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis.
  • Transitional Care Unit
  • 28 beds
  • Serves multiple diagnoses including neuro, ortho, oncology, amputee, spinal cord injury, transplant, etc.
  • All adult patients
  • Post-Acute - PT, OT, SLP.
  • Approximately 50 therapy and tech staff at the 2 post-acute units
  • Highly Collaborative between all fields along with MD/Physiatrist, rehab nursing, social work, dietary, etc. with primary goal to get patients home.

This position will be working as a casual.

  • Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
    • Personal grooming, bathing, toileting
    • Feeding
    • Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams
    • Oral hygiene
    • Specimen collection/testing
    • Position/ambulating
    • Changing linens
  • Promptly answers call lights.
  • Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition.
    • Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.
    • Places patient on/off monitors or equipment.
    • Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
    • Orients patient/family to environment.
    • Assures the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
  • Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies.
    • Assures patients get to appointment on time.
    • Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.
  • Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment.
    • Orders and stocks supplies.
  • Correctly documents tasks performed on appropriate form.

Required:
  • Current on the MN CNA Registry
  • BLS (basic life support) for healthcare providers

Preferred:
  • Experience in a hospital setting
