Job Overview
Fairview Range is seeking a or Central Supply Technician or CRCST to join our Sterile Processing team in Hibbing, MN.
The Central Supply Technician plays a crucial role in the flawless flow of operations by efficiently processing and distributing stock supplies and forms to all nursing departments. Moreover, this role involves the meticulous cleaning, decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and terminal sterilization of all reusable patient care equipment, instruments, and supplies. Applicants holding current CRCST certification through HSPA will be seamlessly transitioned into a CRCST position. For those seeking to join our team without prior certification, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to ensure success in this vital role!

As a Central Supply Technician, you will:
  • Monitor and maintain supply locations; remove outdated, damaged or defective supplies from PAR carts. Apply FIFO (first in first out) stock rotation method to all supply locations.
  • Set up and distribute surgical cases per established preference list.
  • Monitor stock levels for all supply locations, makes recommendations for appropriate PAR level.
  • Perform cart counts as scheduled for each cart and/or bin locations.
  • Maintain, track and inventory all reusable patient equipment through the MMIS.
  • Transport used instrument using safe handling technique; keeps contaminated items contained during transport, utilizes containers mark with biohazard, and prevents contact with the items.
  • Follow the manufacturers IFU; Know and understand the appropriate method of instrument process.
  • Review manufacturer's IFU for appropriate cleaning method prior to processing.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment; washer decontaminator, dumbwaiter and sonic cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Verify instrument counts, document and track missing instrumentation. Documents discrepancies on tray discrepancy form.
  • Properly utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE); environmental measures, gowns, face shield, gloves
  • Inspect decontaminated items to ensure effectiveness; clean and functional, without pitting or rust.
  • Assemble instrumentation, packs, and trays according to the tray master lists
  • Operate sterilization equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines
  • Monitor and maintain precise sterilization records; monitor the effectiveness of the process. validates, time, temp, DART, biological controls, prior to release of load.
  • Maintain effective work environment; neat and clean, appropriate level of supplies.
  • Inspect processed items and validates effectiveness; identify and distribute processed goods to the appropriate departments/drop off locations. Verifies packaging integrity.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of medical equipment, supplies
  • Prior experience in Sterile Processing/Decontamination, Materials Management, or healthcare experience
  • 400 hours or more experience in instrument handling, assembly, decontamination, and sterilization
  • Willing and able to obtain CRCST certification within 1 Year
