Seeking a Part Time Facilities Aide on our Elmira Corps Team

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for the general upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of buildings and grounds of all Salvation Army Properties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Assist with minor repairs to roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, drywall, or other parts of
building structures.
• Sand and paint building surfaces as needed.
• Clean interior surfaces of building, including floors, walls, windows, doors, and other fixtures as
needed, using appropriate cleaning solutions and materials.
• Make adjustments or minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, or electrical
systems
• Replace building fixtures (ceiling tiles, lightbulbs, locks, etc.)
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies either manually or using hand trucks.
• Mow lawn with mower, trim outdoor greenery using hand or power trimmers, and clear debris
from building grounds.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways or parking areas using snowplows, snow blowers, snow
shovels, or snow melting chemicals.
• Set up, arrange, or remove tables, chairs, ladders, etc. to prepare facilities for events.
• Maintain safety procedures when completing all tasks. Wear Personal Protective Equipment
when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by the facilities department, Manager of Facilities
• Demonstrate cultural competence, as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities
and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services
Strategic Plan.


SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• One year related experience required
• Ability to utilize commercial cleaning equipment, and small power and hand tools
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of mathematics, specifically weights and measures
• Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements is preferred
