Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The CDL Lab Facilitator performs the following functions: Administrative and Student Documentation Management The facilitator manages precise and confidential student records from application through program completion using the College's systems and spreadsheets.
The role monitors each student's progress in completing federally required documentation, including Commercial Learner's Permit status, DOT physical and medical card requirements, MVR checks, drug screens, and other compliance items. The facilitator serves as a primary point of contact for students regarding documentation, deadlines, and program expectations and coordinates with admissions, financial aid, and external service providers to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. The position supports scheduling, communication, and administrative processes that keep the program compliant and efficient.
Lab and Practical Skills Supervision The facilitator supervises and guides students during non-driving, hands-on practice sessions on the range and in the skills lab. The role supports instruction in pre-trip inspection steps, procedural terminology, and the federally required inspection sequence and supervises students as they practice basic control and backing maneuvers to ensure safe and accurate performance. The facilitator enforces range and lab safety protocols, assists with setup and teardown of cones and training equipment, monitors equipment needs, and reports concerns to the Lead Instructor.
The role also provides tutoring support for students who need additional help with inspection steps, procedures, study materials, or required documentation. Program Operations Support The facilitator supports CDL program operations by participating in campus events, division initiatives, employer visits, and community marketing efforts that strengthen awareness of CDL training and contribute to broader Workforce and Economic Development priorities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's degree and relevant experience or equivalent education and experience At least two years of experience in administrative recordkeeping and data management. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT documentation processes for entry-level drivers.
