Job description

HMD is an industry leader in transportation, based in the Chicagoland area. We are currently looking for an experienced Safety Director to assist in the continuation of our success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Full ownership of FMCSA compliance, CSA Scores, and overall driver safety performance.
  • Develop, lead and support a team that oversees safety compliance and driver candidate qualifications.
  • Safety policy enforcement and development.
  • On the road DOT violation, moving violation and accident investigation, accountability, and prevention.
  • Develop and implement driver training programs, both in-cab and in-person.
  • Work closely with operations and recruiting to uphold safety standards.
  • Act as the point of contact for safety and compliance related platforms that are being used.
  • Assist in driver progressive discipline both in person and over the phone as needed.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in trucking safety and FMCSA compliance of at least 3 years.
  • Clear understanding of CSA, HOS, and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Experience in leading safety teams and coaching programs.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials requirements and certifications.
The successful candidate will be a good communicator with a data-driven, analytical, mindset that can see the big picture and has the company’s best interests in mind.
Monday – Friday 07:00 – 16:00.
