Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fabrication Lead to oversee daily fabrication activities and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. This position will provide hands-on leadership to the fabrication team while coordinating workflow, reviewing drawings, assisting with job assignments, and helping resolve production issues.

The ideal candidate has strong fabrication and welding experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities for the fabrication team.
  • Assign work and help prioritize jobs based on production schedules and deadlines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform and oversee fitting, welding, cutting, grinding, and assembly operations.
  • Ensure fabricated components are properly fitted, aligned, and completed to specifications.
  • Monitor work progress and communicate production needs or issues to management.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and proper dimensions.
  • Identify fabrication issues and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Train and provide guidance to fabrication employees on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, materials, and work areas are properly maintained and organized.
  • Monitor material usage and notify management of shortages or production needs.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure employees follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining production records, job documentation, and quality paperwork.
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate production and meet deadlines.
  • Lead by example while maintaining a positive, productive, and professional work environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous fabrication and welding experience required.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, or stick welding preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong understanding of fitting, layout, cutting, grinding, welding, and assembly.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, levels, and squares.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a production environment.
  • Ability to work hands-on while directing and supporting a team.
