JOB OVERVIEW

The Production Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in overseeing daily manufacturing operations and coordinating production activities through direct supervision of assigned staff. This position involves prioritizing tasks, delegating assignments, training team members, and ensuring timely completion of work orders to meet client requirements. Key responsibilities include managing material flow, implementing process improvements, and supporting continuous production in a fast-paced environment. The Supervisor ensures production schedules are met safely and efficiently while fostering team performance and development.

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Direct daily job scheduling and lead hourly staff to execute production plans efficiently and on time.
  • Interpret and relay work orders, drawings, and materials lists; collaborate with operations, logistics, and project management to ensure alignment and performance.
  • Set clear expectations, track estimated vs. actual hours, manage productivity, reduce rework, and ensure quality output.
  • Enforce company safety standards, promote safe practices, and work with the EHS Manager to meet OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee inventory, material flow, and ERP accuracy; facilitate timely moves between work centers and locations.
  • Identify process improvements, support LEAN and 6S initiatives, and lead efforts to improve efficiency and delivery.
  • Train, coach, and cross-train staff; provide regular feedback, motivation, and corrective action as needed.
  • Remain visible and engaged on the floor to support staff, answer questions, and monitor job progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate key updates on performance, quality, and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience: 3 โ€“ 5 years of supervisory experience preferred; 5 โ€“ 10 years in metal fabrication or manufacturing desired.
  • Strong leadership, training, and team coordination abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and CSI (or similar systems).
  • Experience as a material coordinator or in a related manufacturing role.
  • Forklift operation experience with adherence to safety protocols.
  • Strong time management, multitasking, and independent work capabilities.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on customer service and company goals.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does have leadership/supervisory responsibilities.
