Job description

SUMMARY
Assists the fabrication department by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assists other machine operators with fabrication duties.
  • Unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from lasers, pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks and identifies each load with the job number.
  • Loads fabricated parts into tumbler and removes them after a designated time period.
  • Applies rust preventative to fabricated parts when necessary.
  • Removes burrs or excess metal from fabricated parts.
  • Plans assembly procedures following specifications.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
