Job description

Cherrywood Fabrics is a unique, creative business that manufactures our own product, as well as sells it. We serve retail customers online, at national trade shows, and wholesale customers (quilt shops). Our international reputation comes from over 35 years in the world of quilting and sewing.

The position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Collaborating with other Production Assistants during all steps of production

  • Handling raw materials - 50 lb. bags of salt and soda ash, 40 lb. rolls of fabric

  • Accurately ripping/cutting fabric using measuring tools, rotary cutters and scissors

  • Managing domestic washing machines including adding and removing wet fabric

  • Finishing the washing process after Head Dyer has done their job

  • Drying fabric to required dampness and preparing for pressing

  • Operating industrial flatwork ironer (Mangle), adhering to safety standards

  • Rolling fabric by hand onto cardboard cores meeting standards

  • Stocking shelves

  • Maintaining equipment and building:

    • Washing Machines: daily wiping down

    • Dryer: clean vents weekly

    • Mangle (Flatwork Ironer): daily vacuuming

    • Kitchen: daily dishes and clean sink, counters, monthly vacuum

    • Floors: weekly vacuuming in Production and Inventory areas

    • Bathrooms: weekly cleaning

    • Trash and Recycling: weekly empty

    • Outside entrances: Sweep windows and doors of cobwebs

    • Trough: monthly cleaning with wet/dry vacuum

  • Serve as back-up for Production Manager and/or Head Dyer when needed
