What are FAA Ground Instructors?

FAA Ground Instructors are certified professionals who provide ground instruction to pilots and student pilots, typically covering topics such as aerodynamics, navigation, weather, regulations, and safety. They do not conduct flight training in the air but are authorized to teach and endorse students for knowledge tests required for various pilot certificates and ratings. There are three types of FAA Ground Instructor certificates: Basic, Advanced, and Instrument, each permitting instruction in different areas. Ground Instructors play a vital role in aviation education by ensuring students have a solid understanding of theoretical concepts before progressing to flight training.
