Description: As an F-35 Airworthiness Analyst, you will help the F-35 Joint Program Office fulfill its mission developing, testing, producing, fielding, and sustaining dominant 5th generation fighter capabilities for the United States military services and our allies around the world by ensuring F-35 aircraft and aircraft subsystems meet flight safety standards by verifying compliance with regulations, managing certification documents, and reviewing maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute the flight clearance process applying technical data requirements to determine the operating envelopes, limitations, cautions, and special inspections required based upon a specified configuration.
  • Provide airworthiness expertise and safety of flight and risk assessments for the issuance of flight clearances, airworthiness policy, and aircraft engineering design and certification for F-35 operating countries and services.
  • Evaluate F-35 systems upgrades and modifications for potential impacts to airworthiness.
  • Coordinate the airworthiness approval process for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Office and Naval Air Systems Command for aircraft modifications that require subject matter expertise (SME) approval including Aircraft Operating Limitations (AOL) within the F-35 JPO, which includes attending contractor AOL review boards, coordinating draft AOLs in the Electronic Flight Clearance Tool and providing recommendations to the Government Airworthiness Authority.
  • Recommend certification criteria for airworthiness assessors, staff issuance of flight clearances, and coordinating airworthiness certification with the F-35 air vehicle and propulsion systems prime contractors, in accordance with MIL-HDBK-516C.

Requirements
  • Active SECRET Clearance with eligibility for SAR
  • BA/BS degree in engineering
  • Six years (6) of experience providing airworthiness analysis support for military aircraft
  • Strong knowledge and experience in applying MIL-HDBK-516C to assure military airworthiness and safety of flight
  • Demonstrated experience in military acquisition to include relevant Systems Engineering, Test, and/or Program Management expertise
  • Knowledge of fighter aircraft employment
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to travel (approximately 10%)
