Job description

Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America’s boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country’s biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.

The Senior Alumni Relations Manager will execute and continuously strengthen a high-impact alumni engagement strategy focused on advancing classical liberal ideas. As an individual contributor, this role is ideal for a relationship-oriented operator who excels at translating strategy into execution, identifying opportunities to improve engagement over time, and building trusted relationships across a diverse policy network.

Preference is for candidates available to work in person in Arlington, VA. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

How You Will Contribute

Activate and strengthen the alumni network

  • Execute alumni engagement strategies and contribute insights that improve network participation and long-term value.

  • Manage segmented engagement approaches across policy, geographic, and career-based cohorts.

  • Build consistent touchpoints and relationship-management practices that strengthen alumni connection and participation.

  • Own the content and delivery of alumni newsletters

Drive talent and opportunity flow

  • Help position the alumni network as a key source of policy talent, referrals, and collaboration opportunities.

  • Connect alumni to relevant roles, initiatives, convenings, and peer relationships across the broader network.

  • Support mentorship, peer learning, and cross-state collaboration among alumni leaders.

Inform high-value programming and experiences

  • Identify opportunities to enhance alumni value through convenings, leadership forums, and targeted engagement efforts.

  • Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to shape and support impactful alumni experiences.

  • Gather feedback and insights from alumni to continuously improve programming priorities and engagement models.

Leverage data and systems

  • Use CRM and engagement tools to track participation, relationships, and network outcomes.

  • Monitor KPIs related to engagement, referrals, and collaboration to inform ongoing improvements.

  • Contribute reporting and insights that demonstrate alumni network impact.

Strengthen partnerships and network connectivity

  • Build strong relationships with alumni, internal teams, and external partners.

  • Support efforts to elevate alumni success stories and strengthen the network’s visibility and credibility.

  • Serve as a trusted connector across the broader policy and talent ecosystem.

What You Will Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in alumni relations, stakeholder engagement, talent networks, public policy, or community building.

  • Strong execution and relationship-management capabilities within complex, high-touch networks.

  • Experience improving and scaling engagement programs over time.

  • Comfort using CRM systems, engagement metrics, and data to guide decisions.

  • Strong communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in evolving environments.

  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.

What We Offer
  • Competitive Benefits:  Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.

  • A meaningful career: Join a passionate community of over 1,300 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.

  • Commitment to growth: Thrive in a non-hierarchical environment that empowers employees to discover, develop and apply their unique talents.

  • Competitive compensation: Our approach rewards the value you create through competitive salaries and bonus opportunities, allowing you to share in the success you help drive.

Our Principles-Based Management™ (PBM) compensation philosophy is grounded in an individualized approach that rewards the long-term value each person creates for the organization. Compensation decisions are informed by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, capabilities, demonstrated skills, role responsibilities, and expected contribution. Consistent with this approach, base salary may vary within or outside of the anticipated range based on these considerations.

Our Values: Working for an organization within the Stand Together philanthropic community is different from many other places. The culture is deeply rooted in Principle Based Management® (PBM®), a framework guided by the principles that drive human progress, such as dignity, openness, and bottom-up empowerment.
