Job description

Job Title: Instructional Assistant, Shamrock Success Academy (Alternative Center Extension of Westfield High School)

Description: IA will be responsible for being a team member that supports the delivery of academic instruction  to groups of students enrolled in an alternative setting. Along with instructional support, IA will supervise students under the guidance of a teacher and will support the provision of a continuum of academic, behavioral, and wellness support to students, collaborating with the teacher team in implementing these. 
 

Supervisor: Westfield High School Administration

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills WWS mission of ensuring high levels of learning and growth for each student and fulfills WWS vision of all Rocks being Life Ready in an alternative setting that is an extension of the high school
  • Member of WHS Professional Learning Communities, on the Shamrock Success Academy Collaborative Team
  • Supports direct instruction under the supervision of the teacher team.
  • Provides specialized assistance and devises special instructional aids to meet individual educational needs.
  • Maintains classroom discipline
  • Collaborates with teacher team, school administration, and school counselor daily
  • Provides additional support to students in need.
  • Monitors student progress toward credits through instructional software provided.
  • Assists in daily routines and operations in conjunction with the teacher team. 

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • Connects well with students and invests in them reaching their full potential, especially students who have not experienced much success within a traditional K-12 environment
