Land Admin/Tech

FLSA Status: Salary, Full Time, Non-Exempt

Department: Midland: Land

Location: Midland, TX, USA

Reports To: District Exploration Manager

Salary: Based upon level of experience


Mewbourne Oil Company, a family owned and operated independent oil and gas exploration and production company, is seeking to hire a Land Technician for our Exploration group located in our Midland office. The qualified candidate would work closely with members of our geology, engineering, and land team to support existing operations as well as new business dealings.

Job functions:

  • Maintain land records
  • Review and update land data
  • Digital or manual court filings with the court
  • Internal document handling and distribution
  • Document management
  • Maintain electronic land records on shared networks and files: organize and archive contracts, leases, assignments, and correspondence
  • Data entry and record maintenance
  • Transcribing (notes, handwritten text, edits, or revisions, etc.)
  • Review and edit outgoing materials for accuracy and clarity
  • Software (Dynamic docs, simplifle, and other land management systems)
  • Document retrieval for internal departments
  • Handle internal inquiries on data
  • Assist with workflow continuity
  • Support management with special projects or requests
  • Assist as backup for reception during absences

Programs: Simplify, Microsoft 365, Quorum, DynamicDocs, Simple Certified, TX Land/County Records, FedEx, Dropbox, PDS etc.

Skills & Qualifications would include:

  • Ability to work and communicate with multiple members of the Exploration group
  • Strong ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, strong work ethic
  • Proficiency and experience in using PC related software (Geographix, Excel, IHS, Enverus, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve
