Principal Product Manager, Personal AI Agents

Introduction to the Team

AI is changing how people interact with products. Instead of learning workflows and navigating complex experiences on their own, people will increasingly rely on assistants that understand context, remember what matters, use tools, and help get things done across chat, voice, and other emerging interfaces.

Travel is one of the most important categories to get right in this shift. Planning, booking, changing plans, and getting help are all high-intent, high-trust moments. They are personal, complex, and often time sensitive. That makes travel a natural place for personal AI agents that do more than answer questions.
Expedia Group is investing in this space with urgency and curiosity. We want to understand where personal agents can create real value for travelers, prototype quickly, and turn the strongest ideas into real products. This role is for someone who wants to help define that future, not just react to it.

As Principal Product Manager, Personal AI Agents, you will lead product strategy for this emerging area. You will evaluate new capabilities as they appear, build or direct fast prototypes, and partner closely with engineering, design, and ML teams to shape Expedia Group's point of view and product roadmap. This is a rare opportunity to work on frontier capabilities with real customer problems, meaningful scale, and the chance to influence how a major travel platform evolves.

In This Role You Will:

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Expedia Group's personal AI agent experiences.

  • Identify the highest-value traveler problems where an agent can save time, reduce effort, and take useful action on a customer's behalf.

  • Rapidly evaluate new capabilities from model providers, tooling ecosystems, and internal platforms, and translate them into clear product bets.

  • Build scrappy but convincing prototypes using available models, agent frameworks, tools, and lightweight interfaces to test usefulness, trust, and feasibility.

  • Partner with engineering, ML, design, and platform teams to turn promising prototypes into scalable product experiences.

  • Shape how memory, context, orchestration, permissions, and human handoff should work in a trusted travel companion.

  • Define safe patterns for agents that take action, including clear explanations, user approvals, visibility into what the agent is doing, and recovery paths when things go wrong.

  • Establish success metrics, launch criteria, and learning loops for these experiences, balancing ambition with trust, reliability, latency, and cost.

  • Influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams on where Expedia Group should play, what to build first, and how to stay at the forefront of this space.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including meaningful work on AI/ML products, automation systems, developer tools, platforms, or other technically sophisticated products.

  • Strong technical fluency and comfort working at the boundary of product and engineering. You should be able to reason about APIs, orchestration, data flows, permissions, latency, and failure modes.

  • Hands-on builder mindset, with the ability to use model APIs, agent tooling, and simple code in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript to create or guide working prototypes.

  • Proven track record of taking new product areas from ambiguous opportunity to strategy, prototype, launch, and measurable impact.

  • Strong judgment in trust-sensitive experiences, including transparency, control, privacy, and reliability.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clarity and alignment across senior cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building assistants, agents, copilots, or AI products that use tools to complete tasks.

  • Familiarity with memory, tool calling, browser or computer use, voice, multimodal interaction, or agent orchestration.

  • Experience working across consumer product, platform, and third-party ecosystems.

  • Background in software engineering, ML, data science, or a similarly technical field.

  • Experience in travel, commerce, marketplace, payments, or customer support products.

  • Strong point of view on when an agent should act autonomously, when it should ask for permission, and how to keep users in control.
