Job description

IBM Technology Sales is transforming client engagement by combining digital selling, technical expertise, and AI-driven innovation. As an Entry-Level Technology Seller, you will create demand, identify opportunities, and help organizations evaluate and adopt IBM solutions. This center-based role blends consultative selling, technical demonstrations, AI-powered sales tools, ecosystem collaboration, and customer success while building a foundation for a career in technology sales and client leadership.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Create demand and identify new opportunities within assigned territories, accounts, and product portfolios through outbound, inbound, and digital engagement.
  • Engage and qualify prospective customers through phone, email, social media, video outreach, campaigns, virtual events, and other digital selling channels.
  • Develop and maintain an active pipeline by progressing opportunities through the sales cycle, uncovering expansion potential, and supporting renewal, upgrade, and modernization opportunities.
  • Participate in customer discovery conversations to understand business objectives, technical needs, buying criteria, and success measures.
  • Deliver virtual technical demonstrations, solution overviews, and proof-of-value discussions that connect IBM capabilities to customer business outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted sales advisor and technical advocate by maintaining contemporary product knowledge and clearly communicating IBM value propositions.
  • Collaborate with Technical Specialists, Customer Success Managers, Account Executives, Business Partners, Marketing, and Ecosystem teams to advance opportunities and support deal execution.
  • Use IBM digital and AI-enabled sales tools, customer insights, market intelligence, and social selling techniques to improve engagement strategies and drive revenue growth.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completed by start date in Business, Communications, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in technology, digital selling, consultative sales, and solving client business challenges.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to business and technical audiences.
  • Analytical thinking, curiosity, adaptability, self-motivation, and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Interest in learning IBM technologies, product offerings, industry trends, competitive landscapes, and AI-powered sales tools.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Professional selling coursework, certification, specialization, or customer-facing experience.
  • Internship, co-op, project, research, or extracurricular experience in sales, business, consulting, customer success, technology, or entrepreneurship.
  • Exposure to AI, hybrid cloud, automation, data and analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or enterprise software.
  • Experience delivering presentations, demonstrations, or solution-based customer engagements.
  • Leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer work, competitions, or community involvement.

Projected Minimum Salary per year

75,600.00

Projected Maximum Salary per year

113,400.00

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
