About the Position
The Project Audit Manager supports the company's project audit function by evaluating the financial, operational, and compliance performance of electrical construction projects. This role focuses on assessing project execution, cost controls, billing accuracy , change order management, labor productivity, and adherence to internal policies and industry regulations, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. The Project Audit Manager works collaboratively within the audit team to execute audit activities and aligns with the program direction established by the Director.

Day in the Life
  • Executes project audits across preconstruction, active construction, and close-out phases, including participation in project retrospectives.
  • Applies standardized audit methodologies, risk criteria, and reporting frameworks established by audit leadership.
  • Supports the continuous improvement of audit processes, tools, and reporting consistency.
  • Performs detailed reviews of project budgets, forecasts, labor productivity, procurement practices, billing, and cost performance.
  • Analyzes job costing, revenue recognition, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules to identify discrepancies, risks, or trends.
  • Validates supporting documentation for change orders, time-and-material (T&M) work, and subcontractor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and contract alignment.
  • Evaluates field execution for alignment with company standards, contract requirements, and safety expectations.
  • Reviews labor utilization, equipment deployment, material management, and subcontractor performance for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assesses project schedules and identifies risks related to delays, rework, or cost exposure.
  • Assesses compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA).
  • Evaluates internal controls related to project documentation, timekeeping, billing processes, and project close-out.
  • Verifies that required contractual notices and documentation are properly executed by project teams.
  • Collaborates with operations, safety, and finance teams to strengthen control environments and reduce risk.
  • Prepares clear, concise audit findings, including risk assessments and actionable recommendations.
  • Supports communication of audit results, trends, and insights to audit leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of audit activities and ensures audit files are complete and audit-ready .
  • Tracks remediation efforts and partners with project teams to support timely and effective resolution of audit findings.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in A ccounting , Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5-7 years of experience in construction auditing, project controls, operations, or financial oversight within electrical contracting or the broader construction industry.
  • Experience in large project construction operations, project controls, or auditing.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, project lifecycles, and job costing systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA).
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across functions.
