Position Summary
At RGI Creative, we don't just build exhibits—we shape immersive experiences that inspire, educate, and endure. As our Cabinet Maker, you'll transform design intent into custom, finely crafted structures. This position requires expert-level craftsmanship, a meticulous eye for detail, and a passion for building environments that blend storytelling with precision engineering.
This role reflects the advanced skills required to build interactive exhibits, custom displays, and experiential environments for museums, cultural institutions, and branded experiences across the country. This role is ideal for a skilled fabricator who thrives in a creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative shop environment.
 
 
Responsibilities
 
Fabrication & Assembly
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication instructions with precision.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble materials including wood, acrylic, laminate, and composite panels using power and hand tools.
  • Apply laminates, veneers, and finishes with attention to detail and durability.
  • Maintain tight tolerances—cutting to 1/32” accuracy.
  • Integrate low-voltage lighting, display hardware, and digital components into casework and exhibits.
 
Shop Operations
  • Uphold RGI Creative’s quality standards in all work produced.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Conduct regular tool maintenance and inspect shop equipment for safe operation.
  • Assist with inventory control and material restocking.
 
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and designers to ensure fabrication aligns with design intent.
  • Proactively communicate any discrepancies, challenges, or improvements to supervisors.
  • Support installation teams on-site as needed, including occasional overnight travel for installs and tradeshows (approx. 10%).
  
Qualifications
 
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in cabinetmaking, exhibit fabrication, or high-end custom woodworking
  • Mastery of woodworking tools and machinery (table saws, routers, CNC, drill presses, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Experience in finished carpentry and high-tolerance fabrication work
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand, bend, and twist throughout the workday
  • Strong math and measurement skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and self-management
  • Commitment to safety protocols and team collaboration
 
Preferred
  • Experience with museum, tradeshow, or exhibit industry builds
  • Familiarity with LED wiring and basic electrical systems
  • Exposure to sustainable building materials or sensory-inclusive design
