As a Builder at CenterPoint, you will be responsible for performing custom cabinetmaking and carpentry duties to fabricate trade show booths and related exhibits. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will contribute to the creation of visually stunning and functional displays that leave a lasting impression on our clients and their audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand shop and production drawings to construct exhibit structures, crates, and other related projects
  • Safely operate woodshop tools and apply basic mechanical skills (plumbing, electrical, metalwork) while working with a variety of materials including lumber, plywood, MDF, acrylic, metal, laminate, wood veneer, and plastics to fabricate exhibit components.
  • Utilize basic math skills to accurately calculate measurements according to specifications.
  • Precisely join various fabricated elements with fasteners designed for KD (knock down) construction style.
  • Apply knowledge and experience to develop cut sheets for the most efficient use of materials.
  • Complete layout and construction of shipping containers/crates within or below estimated timeframes.
  • Adhere to production estimates to manage time effectively and complete assigned work within established timelines.
  • Conduct test-fitting of exhibit components to verify proper fit, alignment, and functionality.
  • Accurately complete legible timecards, material charge out lists, cut sheets, and other relevant documentation.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to work with others in a team environment and take direction.
  • Continuously develop and refine knowledge of Tradeshow industry and CenterPoint standards.
  • Regularly identify and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Model and promote company core values – Individuals, Service, Excellence, Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Innovation – across all interactions and work activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Technical Degree OR completion of related apprenticeship program is beneficial but not required.
  • Two years of experience in construction, cabinet making, home improvement or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry and cabinet making.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills.
  • Exhibit building and tradeshow industry experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods working on feet.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and operation of hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
