The Clinical Cardiac Testing Exercise Physiologist performs cardiac testing procedures (both inpatient and outpatient) in the Franciscan Health Network. These procedures consist of stress testing and heart monitoring.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Conduct pre-test screening and assessment of vitals (heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure and symptoms), with thorough chart review to gather relevant medical history.
  • Start IV's and administer medication intravenously under physician direction.
  • Adhere to nuclear medicine safety measures throughout nuclear cardiac procedures.
  • Interpret 12 lead EKGs; recognize changes in routine wave forms, artifact, as well as critical conditions, such as segment elevation/depression, infarct patterns, and life-threatening arrhythmias.
  • Perform standard resting electrocardiograms, and apply holter and cardiac event monitoring systems; instruct patients on monitoring and ensure follow-up with the physician.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal finding and patient progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science
  • Required 1 year Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation
  • Required within 180 days from hire Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Required within 180 days from hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred Master's Degree
