What does an exercise physiologist manager do?

An Exercise Physiologist Manager oversees a team of exercise physiologists, coordinating patient care, developing exercise programs, and ensuring that services align with clinical guidelines. They are responsible for supervising staff, managing departmental operations, and often play a role in hiring and training. Additionally, they may collaborate with other healthcare professionals to design rehabilitation or preventive exercise plans, monitor outcomes, and ensure regulatory compliance. Their leadership ensures that patients receive effective and safe exercise interventions tailored to individual needs.

To thrive as an Exercise Physiologist Manager, you need a solid background in exercise science, clinical assessment, and program development, typically with a bachelor's or master's degree in exercise physiology and relevant certifications such as ACSM-EP or CEP. Familiarity with fitness testing technology, electronic health records, and data management systems is often required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for managing staff and ensuring effective patient care.
