Job description

Overview

We are seeking Civil / Structural Engineers to join our engineering team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position will support the planning, design, and
execution of civil and structural engineering projects for industrial facilities. The Civil / Structural Engineer will be responsible for developing safe, practical,
and constructible design solutions for new facilities, facility expansions, equipment installations, infrastructure improvements, and modifications to existing
operating plants. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, clients, surveyors, geotechnical consultants,
vendors, fabricators, and construction personnel throughout all phases of project execution.

Responsibilities

Develop civil and structural engineering designs, calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and construction documents.
• Design reinforced-concrete foundations for equipment, vessels, tanks, pipe racks, structures, buildings, and packaged systems.
• Design structural-steel framing, platforms, pipe supports, access structures, stairs, ladders, handrails, and miscellaneous industrial structures.
• Perform structural analysis and design for gravity, wind, seismic, equipment, piping, thermal, vibration, and other applicable loads.
• Evaluate existing structures and foundations for new loads, equipment modifications, deterioration, or changes in service.
• Develop repair, reinforcement, and modification solutions for existing concrete and structural-steel systems.
• Review topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, subsurface information, utility data, and existing facility documentation.
• Coordinate design loads, equipment requirements, anchor-bolt arrangements, support locations, and interface points with mechanical, piping, electrical,
instrumentation, and equipment vendors.
• Coordinate civil and structural design requirements with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, architectural, and construction disciplines.
• Participate in site visits, field walkdowns, structural assessments, surveys, constructability reviews, and collection of existing facility information.
• Review vendor, fabricator, surveyor, geotechnical, and subcontractor deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
• Review structural-steel shop drawings, concrete submittals, anchor-bolt plans, reinforcing-steel drawings, and other construction submittals.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, permitting requirements, and regulatory criteria.
• Assist project managers with scope development, engineering estimates, schedules, progress tracking, and change management.
• Manage multiple assignments while meeting project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and client expectations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of five years of relevant civil and structural engineering experience.
• Experience supporting industrial, refining, petrochemical, chemical, energy, or manufacturing facilities is strongly preferred.
• Experience designing reinforced-concrete foundations and structural-steel systems for industrial applications.
• Experience with equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, buildings, pipe supports, tank foundations, and miscellaneous industrial structures.
• Experience with site development, grading, drainage, paving, stormwater systems, underground utilities, and earthwork design.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Familiarity with API standards and industrial client specifications is preferred.
• Experience evaluating and modifying existing structures in operating facilities.
• Ability to interpret geotechnical reports, topographic surveys, equipment drawings, piping layouts, structural drawings, and multidisciplinary engineering
documents.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with structural-analysis and design software such as STAAD.
• Professional Engineer license or progress toward professional licensure is required.

Physical:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.
