Job Overview

The Brentford FC Training Ground Operations Executive role is key in delivering a high-quality environment for the 1st Team Performance Centre & Academy as a Premier League Football Club.

The role is operationally responsible for ensuring that the Training Ground is supported in its business, including events and matches.

This role will be responsible for operational readiness of Training Ground buildings, working in partnership with on-field departments, key stakeholders, local community and Community Sports Trust.

This role will require a flexible working hours schedule as part of a published roster with hours covered between 07:00-22:00hrs on weekdays and 08:00-19:00hrs on weekends. Based on a 40-hour average working week with shifts of 8 or 9 hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regular reviews of building infrastructure, identifying maintenance windows for facilities team and other external maintenance partners to maintain the site.

  • Ensure that the Training Ground site is welcoming, clean and fit to operate on a day-to-day basis, both internally and externally. Some basic maintenance tasks may be required.

  • To ensure that all safety and security elements of any event are fully scheduled and delivered on time within budget & supervise the Stewards & Security staff.

  • Deliver support to on field Football activities communicating with relevant club stakeholders.

  • Facilitate progression of Car Parking & Travel plans at site for both staff and visitors reporting to the Operations Manager.

  • Support the department in continually evaluating and improving processes.

  • Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required.

Knowledge

  • Experience of working in an events and/or operations environment.

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to meet tight and demanding deadlines and troubleshoot challenges as they arise.

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, and data management systems.

  • A genuine team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • Exceptional customer service knowledge and experience.

  • High level of numeracy and literacy.

Specialist Skills

  • Experience working in professional sport, operations or facilities management.

  • IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification (or willingness to achieve).

  • Spectator Safety NVQ Level 2 (or willingness to achieve).

  • First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to achieve).

People Skills

No two days are the same at Brentford. A flexible approach to people and to communication is crucial to making each visitor and each guest feel welcome. To give the best service, the Operations Executive will need to:

  • Liaise with the local community and other stakeholders and keep updated on events and activity.

  • Support with the delivery of events which will include client liaison in the planning stage but also on the event itself.

  • Manage casual staff including rostering, briefing, and performance feedback.

  • Interface with guests, clients, BFC stakeholders, and the general public.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

One of the elements of the club strategy where operations can have direct impact is growth. Whether its supporting on an event or meeting the public, every interaction is an opportunity to show the club to new people.

Decision Making

There might be occasions where the Operations Executive will be required to support with delivering events or even lead where appropriate. Handling queries, managing contractors, security & stewards will also require some decision making but support always will be available from other members of the operations team.
