Job description

About the team:

Tapestry is a team within Alphabet working to build the AI-powered electric grid. We are tackling one of the world's most important infrastructure challenges: helping the energy system become more visible, understandable, reliable, affordable, abundant, and clean.

Originally born at X, Alphabet's moonshot factory, Tapestry brings together experts in energy, AI, software, engineering, and product to build tools that help the electricity ecosystem plan smarter, move faster, and operate more efficiently.

This is a global effort. Tapestry supports partners across the U.S., U.K., Chile, New Zealand, Australia, and Brazil as they work toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Joining Tapestry means doing high-impact work with a multidisciplinary team tackling a problem that matters at global scale. Learn more about our team and our mission here.

About the role:

As the Executive Business Partner, you are the operational engine behind our engineering leadership. You don't just manage a desk; you manage the momentum of a world-class technical team. You bring deep experience supporting Engineering and Product Executives, understanding the unique cadences of sprint cycles, technical roadmaps, and the nuances of scaling a global developer org.

You are a tech-forward operator who leverages AI to automate the mundane and amplify the strategic. Moving quickly within X's changing environment, you act as a force multiplier for our leadership, ensuring that our "clean energy geeks" can stay focused on the grid while you architect the systems that keep the organization running at 10x speed.

How you will make 10x impact:

  • Empower Leadership: Strategically manage the administrative landscape (calendars, travel, facilities, equipment) to free executives for strategic priorities. Your attention to detail, combined with a grasp of the big picture, ensures the executive team is always prepared for high-stakes climate and energy stages, as well as productive internal problem-solving sessions. You directly influence the Tapestry team's productivity, driving meaningful global change.
  • Strategic Partnership:  You act as a confidante and strategic partner to our leadership staff by ensuring their time is spent on the most leveraged activities.  You coordinate meetings and clear conflicts for our senior leadership team, and ensure critical meetings aren't missed or delayed and are prioritized accordingly.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Serve as a central force within the team, optimizing processes, streamlining workflows, and fostering seamless cross-functional collaboration to fuel rapid growth and scalability. Innovate and elevate by challenging the status quo, building efficiency into existing operations, and shaping new strategies to stay ahead.
  • Connect the Dots: Act as a key coordinator, building strong relationships within X, Google, and across Alphabet, and with external partners. Your ability to build bridges, identify, and proactively seek solutions is essential.
  • Lead Project Initiatives: Take ownership of diverse projects, leveraging strong project management skills to guide initiatives to successful completion.
  • Foster Team Culture & Communications: Champion internal communications, organize engaging All Hands meetings and offsites, plan memorable events, and actively cultivate a positive team environment..

What you should have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of direct experience supporting Engineering and Technical Executives in a high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record of leveraging AI and automation tools to increase executive productivity and team efficiency.
  • Direct experience navigating the specialized needs of engineering organizations (e.g., headcount planning, sprint-sensitive scheduling, and technical stakeholder management).
  • Ability to work fluently with C-suite executives, government agencies, and global energy organizations.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup, fast-paced "moonshot" org, or similar technical environment.

It would be great if you also had these:

  • Proven expertise in supporting executives, including intricate calendar management and consistently maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse individuals and job functions.
  • Familiarity in the Alphabet world, to be able to navigate across the Google and Bets spaces to enable our technical collaborations
  • A balanced approach to problem-solving, applying past expertise while also seeking new answers and learning new tools.
  • Experience in establishing new processes, streamlining ineffective programs, and rallying teams around new ways of working.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, actively seeking feedback, and fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Passion for entrepreneurial teams, resourceful problem-solving, bringing joy to the workplace, and contributing to a better world.
  • Passion for a mission-driven organizations and the energy space

Tapestry Values

  • Always fine-tune: We stay curious, seek feedback, and refine our understanding as we learn.
  • Stay grounded: We listen openly, value different perspectives, and stay focused on what matters most.

What we offer:

A culture that supports growth, ownership, and meaningful impact, along with...

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • Generous PTO and flexible hybrid work model
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Professional development
  • The ability to work on important real-world problems within an Alphabet-backed environment
