Amazon Web Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Solutions Architect to join our North American Retail team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to some of the world's largest Everyday Essentials companies - including health and beauty, grocery, convenience, enterprises operating tens of thousands of locations globally, processing millions of transactions annually, and serving millions of customers daily.

Key job responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Customer Advisory
Serve as the trusted technical advisor and primary SA for strategic enterprise retail accounts, building deep relationships with C-suite technology leaders and influencing their cloud strategy
Own the end-to-end technical engagement: from discovery and architecture design through implementation support, optimization, and ongoing innovation
Lead Well-Architected Reviews and design sessions for complex, multi-region architectures supporting thousands of store locations globally
Develop and present Technical Account Plans that align AWS capabilities with customer business objectives (e.g., stores expansion goals, loyalty program growth, supply chain transformation)
Conduct executive briefings, white-boarding sessions, and technical deep-dives with customer leadership and their technology partners
Architect solutions for retail-specific workloads including:
- Point of Sale (POS) systems processing thousands of transactions per second across tens of thousands of locations
- Supply chain platforms providing end-to-end traceability, IoT-based tracking, and AI-assisted anomaly detection across complex multi-tier distribution networks
- Loyalty and personalization engines serving hundreds of millions of consumers with real-time, context-aware offers
- Edge computing architectures enabling AI inference, computer vision, and operational intelligence at the restaurant level
- Voice AI solutions leveraging natural language understanding and real-time ordering
A day in the life
Your week might include: whiteboarding a supply chain traceability architecture with a customer's VP of Engineering on Monday; presenting a GenAI-powered restaurant operations solution to C-suite executives on Tuesday; conducting a Well-Architected Review of a POS modernization initiative on Wednesday; collaborating with ProServe and SI partners on a supply chain AI proof-of-concept on Thursday; and authoring a technical blog post on edge computing patterns for multi-location enterprises on Friday

You'll spend approximately 25-60% of your time on-site with customers and at industry events.

As a Senior Solutions Architect on the Retail Technology team, you will work directly with enterprise customers navigating complex digital transformation journeys. You will operate at the intersection of cloud architecture, artificial intelligence, supply chain modernization, and edge computing, helping customers unlock competitive advantage through technology at massive global scale.
Retail enterprises present uniquely compelling technical challenges: real-time transaction processing across thousand of locations, supply chain orchestration spanning hundreds of logistics partners and millions of weekly deliveries, AI-powered personalization for loyalty programs reaching hundreds of millions of consumers, and edge computing architectures that must function reliably in every retail environment worldwide.
You will be the primary technical point of contact for strategic enterprise accounts, owning the technical engagement and ensuring customers successfully architect, build, and optimize solutions on AWS. You will drive executive-level conversations on technology strategy while simultaneously diving deep into system design, conducting architectural reviews, and prototyping solutions.
