Job description

Director of Talent AcquisitionAbout the Role

At Axon, we're building more than a recruiting team we're building the talent engine that fuels innovation. We're seeking a Director of Talent Acquisition who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, and who can lead with credibility, grit, and data-driven decision-making. This leader will own and elevate our global recruiting function: shaping strategy, developing top-tier talent acquisition professionals, and delivering high-quality hires at the speed our business demands.
You'll partner deeply with senior leaders across R&D and beyond to scale our technical and product hiring functions - including Engineering, Product, Data, Security, and IT, while balancing evolving priorities with operational excellence. You'll act as both a strategist and a doer: building systems and insights that improve how we hire, while rolling up your sleeves to get in the weeds when needed.
Success in this role means owning end-to-end talent acquisition outcomes with a mindset for speed, candidate experience, inclusion, and measurable impact, and landing results in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. You'll help define the future of how Axon attracts, engages, and wins world-class talent.
Location: This role is based out of our Seattle office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.

What You Will Do
  • Own global R&D Talent Acquisition outcomes with full autonomy, set direction, align executives, and deliver
  • Operate as an enterprise leader who anticipates issues early, makes decisions fast, and drives closure in ambiguity
  • Translate business strategy into clear hiring plans, priorities, and capacity models that consistently land
  • Establish and run an executive operating rhythm that leaders rely on for pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and tradeoff decisions
  • Hold hiring leaders accountable to standards for role clarity, assessment quality, interview discipline, and timely decisions
  • Build and scale a high performing recruiting organization through strong leader development, clear expectations, and performance management
  • Help own and drive the Axon global recruiting system end to end and continuously improve speed, quality, and candidate experience so all P&L's and recruiting team's are successful, not just R&D
  • Use funnel analytics and market intelligence to remove bottlenecks, increase predictability, and improve offer outcomes
  • Drive ATS discipline, data hygiene, and automation so the function runs clean and scales
  • Partner deeply with technical and product leaders to design job relevant assessments and structured interview plans
  • Build durable sourcing and talent intelligence strategies for hard to hire technical markets
  • Deliver crisp executive reporting that ties insights to decisions, actions, and measurable results

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of broad TA and/or HR experience including talent management and performance management.
  • Recent experience recruiting in multiple discipline areas and levels, including hiring for nonexempt, exempt and leadership positions.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Proven recruiting leader with meaningful people leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading technical hiring, including influencing senior leaders
  • Strong delivery orientation with a track record of getting hiring done in fast changing environments
  • Executive presence
  • Highly data fluent, you use funnel metrics and market data to drive decisions and improvements
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make decisions with incomplete information, and keep teams moving
  • Known for simplifying messy systems, removing barriers, and building elegant operating rhythms
  • Experience leading recruiting across multiple regions and cultures, working effectively across time zones
  • Experience scaling teams in high growth environments
  • Experience modernizing TA through automation, talent intelligence, and process redesign
  • Strong executive presence with a reputation for truth telling and solutions
Benefits that Benefit You
  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Fitness Programs
  • Emotional & Mental Wellness support
  • Learning & Development programs
