Job description

Description
We are seeking a dynamic and technically adept Sales Engineer to join our Solutions team at ChargeAfter. In this role, you will be the primary technical resource for the sales team, responsible for demonstrating the power of our embedded financing platform to prospective enterprise partners. You will act as a bridge between business needs and technical reality, ensuring that potential clients understand how our solution integrates into their unique architecture to drive measurable value.
The ideal candidate possesses a blend of deep technical expertise, sales acumen, and a consultative mindset to win the "technical vote" during the sales process.
Responsibilities
Technical Discovery & Sales Strategy
  • Technical Advisor: Serve as the trusted technical advisor during the pre-sales cycle, building rapport with senior technical stakeholders at prospective partner organizations.
  • Discovery: Lead deep-dive discovery sessions to uncover a prospect's technical environment, including POS architecture, core banking systems, and payment ecosystems.
  • Strategic Alignment: Identify and articulate specific opportunities where ChargeAfter can solve the prospect's unique challenges, such as enhancing customer experience or driving revenue growth.

Demonstrations & Proof of Concepts (POCs)
  • Custom Demonstrations: Design and deliver tailored technical presentations and product demonstrations that highlight ChargeAfter's value proposition for specific enterprise use cases.
  • POC Management: Own the technical track of Proof of Concepts, from defining success criteria to building custom integrations to prove technical feasibility.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with Solution Architects and Product teams to propose innovative, resilient integration designs that meet the prospect's requirements.

Technical Sales Support
  • RFP/RFI Ownership: Take the lead on the technical portions of RFPs and RFIs, ensuring all technical requirements and security standards are accurately addressed.
  • Solution Validation: Ensure a smooth path to contract by providing expert technical reassurance and resolving any functional gaps identified by the prospect's technical team.

Internal Liaison: Translate prospective partner feedback into actionable insights for the Product and Engineering teams to influence the product roadmap.
Requirements
Foundational Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Presale Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Solutions Engineer for a B2B SaaS platform.
  • Industry Expertise: Proven experience in the FinTech, Payments, or e-Commerce sectors, ideally working with enterprise merchants or financial institutions.
  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, security protocols (OAuth, tokenization), and enterprise system integration methodologies.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to present complex technical architectures and ROI-driven value propositions to both developers and C-level executives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on Skills: Proficiency in scripting (e.g., JavaScript, Python) to debug integration issues and create technical proofs-of-concept.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) models, merchant processing, or core banking systems (CBS).
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to articulate a solution's business impact and return on investment beyond just the technical specifications.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes sales opportunities simultaneously while collaborating with diverse internal and external teams.

NYC Posting: In accordance with New York City Local Law 32, the expected salary for this role is between $140,000-$190,000. This role may be eligible for additional compensation in the form of bonuses and/or stock options.
