Operations Manager – Water & Wastewater

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of multiple municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations while providing excellent customer service and leading a high-performing operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of multiple water and wastewater treatment facilities

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations

  • Lead, coach, and support Project Managers, Operators, Maintenance Technicians, and other operations staff

  • Monitor plant performance and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency

  • Develop and manage operational budgets while controlling costs

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal and industrial clients

  • Coordinate maintenance activities and support capital improvement projects

  • Prepare reports, review operational performance, and support strategic initiatives

  • Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

  • Travel to assigned facilities as needed and provide support during emergency situations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in water or wastewater operations

  • At least 3 years of leadership or management experience

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Ability to travel regularly to multiple facilities

  • Texas Class A or B Water or Wastewater Operator License preferred (or ability to obtain)

  • Experience managing multiple facilities, municipal contracts, budgets, or maintenance programs is a plus

  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and environmental regulations

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and field environments

  • Ability to walk treatment facilities, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies when needed
