About the role
SUMMARY: Responsible for managing all activities relating to TAS (replacement) manufacturing including QESH performance, production KPI's and financial performance. Establish and continuously pursue a culture of excellence. Select, assign, and train subordinate personnel. Coordinate preventive and unplanned maintenance of manufacturing equipment, provide technical support, and participate as required in shop production activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Establish a "Safety First" culture by leading the implementation and ensuring compliance with Sulzer, industry, and regulatory safety policies.
Collaborate with QESH in the development of safety and quality policies and procedures
Leverage SAP capabilities and best practices to reduce waste in operations
Work closely with sales and Mexico operations as needed to achieve targets in sales and on-time delivery
Collaborate with TAS estimating and drafting to ensure complete understanding of project specifications
Manage safety stock of raw materials and semi-finished goods required for production
Establish and track agreed upon operational KPI's: shop hours, on time delivery, project progress, cost of goods sold
Establish and maintain effective and visible project progress tracking
Develop and implement operations procedures within the policy/operational framework established by management
Defines or recommends spending requirements for consideration in the preparation of the operating budget for the department
Manage planned and unplanned maintenance activities of manufacturing equipment
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Identify opportunities for process improvement of operational methods and procedures, especially as required to improve efficiency, productivity, or to reduce operating costs
Coordinate with other department heads to resolve production issues or other support related issues
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Select, assign, and train subordinate personnel
Develop personal objectives and monitor related performance
Imitate associated HR actions as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline or 5 years of related managing experiences
10+ years of related production experience, including at least 3 years in manufacturing management
ISO/LEAN certifications/training a plus
Experience at a company producing tower internals (trays/packing/etc.) a plus
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Ability to work in and manage fast paced environment with several projects executing simultaneously
Technical skill and proficiency in production operations, especially related to the management of manufacturing
Usage of ERP system relating to manufacturing, SAP preferred. Oracle, MS Dynamics, EPICOR would be acceptable
Written and verbal communication skills, as required in working and interacting effectively with all levels of personnel
Analytical and problem-solving skill, as required in developing and implementing production methods and associated procedures in manufacturing operations
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
Computer skills, as required in working with word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and understanding metal fabrication operations
TRAVEL: This position may require business travel to various Sulzer locations for meetings
