Purpose:

As eCommerce continues to be a critical growth engine at Floor & Decor, the Senior Director of eCommerce Technology provides leadership over the strategy, architecture, and delivery of flooranddecor.com and related digital commerce platforms. This role sets the longterm technology vision for eCommerce, owns the full product and engineering lifecycle, and partners with senior business leaders across the organization to ensure the digital experience drives customer acquisition, conversion, and retention at scale.

The Senior Director leads a multi-disciplinary organization spanning engineering, QA, program management, and vendor partnerships. This leader is accountable for platform stability, delivery excellence, budget stewardship, and cultivating a high-performance engineering culture. The ability to operate effectively at both the executive strategy level and the delivery level - setting direction, enabling teams, and holding the organization accountable - is essential to success in this role.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

Technology Strategy & Vision

  • Define and own the multi-year eCommerce technology strategy, roadmap, and architecture in alignment with enterprise and digital business goals
  • Serve as the senior technology voice in executive and cross-functional forums, influencing product direction, investment priorities, and build/buy/partner decisions
  • Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, platforms, and industry trends to drive competitive advantage

Organization & People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary eCommerce technology organization including engineering managers, developers, QA leads, and program managers
  • Set organizational goals, performance standards, and career development frameworks; foster a culture of accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR to scale the team in line with business growth

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Own the eCommerce technology portfolio, ensuring the right initiatives are prioritized, resourced, and delivered on time and within budget
  • Establish and mature program management practices including capacity planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, and executive status reporting
  • Set and manage end-to-end delivery milestones across internal and external teams; ensure alignment between product, design, engineering, and business stakeholders

Platform Operations & Engineering Excellence

  • Accountable for the availability, performance, and reliability of flooranddecor.com and supporting eCommerce systems
  • Oversee release and change management practices to ensure safe, efficient deployments with minimal customer impact
  • Drive adoption of engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and security standards

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Own eCommerce technology P&L including annual operating and capital budgets, forecasting, and reconciliation
  • Lead strategic vendor relationships including contract negotiations, SLA management, and performance accountability for key technology partners
  • Evaluate and rationalize the vendor portfolio to optimize cost, capability, and strategic fit

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted technology partner to the VP/SVP of Digital, CMO, and other executive stakeholders; proactively communicate roadmap progress, risks, and investment needs
  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional leaders in IT, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Store Operations, and Finance
  • Represent eCommerce Technology in enterprise architecture, security, and IT governance forums

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technology program management or engineering leadership experience, including large-scale eCommerce platforms
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with software development, preferably in eCommerce or digital commerce
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including managing managers and senior individual contributors
  • 4+ years leading Agile/SAFe development organizations at program or portfolio scale
  • 3+ years of release and change management experience for high-traffic production systems
  • Demonstrated experience owning technology P&L, capital budgets, and vendor contracts at a multi-million dollar scale

Preferred

  • Proven ability to define and execute multi-year technology roadmaps aligned to business strategy
  • Experience driving organizational transformation, including platform modernization and team scaling
  • Executive-level stakeholder management including C-suite, Board-level reporting, and cross-functional business partners
  • Deep familiarity with eCommerce platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere, Magento) and composable architecture principles
  • Strong financial acumen including business case development, ROI modeling, and budget forecasting
  • Experience leading strategic vendor negotiations and managing complex third-party technology partnerships
  • Track record of building and retaining high-performing, diverse engineering teams
  • Excellent executive communication skills - able to translate technical complexity into business outcomes for senior audiences
