Job description

MPG delivers radio frequency (RF) spectrum-centric solutions at the speed of technology. Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our growing manufacturing company. This position will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day accounting functions, overseeing the monthly close process, supporting cost accounting and inventory controls, and assisting the Controller with financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and operational analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience, leadership capabilities, and a solid understanding of cost accounting, ERP systems, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in managing all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting
  • Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations
  • Support and monitor cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, labor and overhead allocations, and product costing
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and operational performance metrics
  • Prepare internal financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls
  • Support internal audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Staff Accountants and AP/AR personnel
  • Partner with operations, production, purchasing, and supply chain teams to improve financial accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Assist with ERP system enhancements, reporting automation, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support strategic financial projects and other duties as assigned by the Group Controller or CFO

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA designation preferred
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of SOX, GAAP, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
