Position Title Master of Healthcare Administration Executive in Residence Posting Number AS1145P Subdivision School of Business Division Col. of Engineering & Business Department Master of Healthcare Administration Location Erie, Pa Position Summary
The Executive in Residence will assist the MHA program with instructional, advising, and promotional activities for students, prospective students, and the communities Gannon serves, while representing Gannon as an executive ambassador in the field of healthcare administration. This is a part-time, contracted position; the Executive in Residence performs services as an independent contractor and is not an employee of the University.
Essential Functions
1. Instruction: Serve as instructor of record for at least one MHA course each academic year, scheduled in consultation with the MHA Program Director. Instructional work is compensated separately under the MHA program's standard adjunct contractual terms.
2. Consulting Services: Remain reasonably available to consult with Gannon faculty and staff on industry practices, recommend instructional design approaches, and advise on healthcare administration programming and curriculum development. Respond in a timely manner to requests from the MHA program's faculty and staff.
3. Represent Gannon as an Expert in Healthcare Administration: Represent the MHA program at healthcare-related events, panels, and forums as needed, serving as a visible figurehead who positions Gannon as a knowledgeable leader in the discipline.
4. Recruitment: Participate in on-campus and, as needed, off-campus recruitment events to help prospective students and corporate sponsors understand the value of a healthcare administration career and the MHA program.
5. Advisement: Provide advising to current MHA students on career paths, internships, job selection, and networking strategies, including review of resumes and reference letters upon request.
6. Strategic Advising to the MHA Program: Advise the MHA Program Director on curriculum updates based on market trends, help identify emerging skill gaps, participate in advisory board and accreditation review processes, and provide expertise aligning the program's competency model and curriculum with the needs of industry employers.
Required Qualifications
Significant senior-level (executive) experience in healthcare administration, with demonstrated industry expertise sufficient to inform curriculum, mentor students, and represent Gannon credibly to healthcare audiences. Ability to hold oneself to a high ethical and professional standard consistent with the standards of the healthcare industry, and to perform all responsibilities in a thorough, diligent, and responsible manner.
Preferred Qualifications
A graduate degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or a related field; prior teaching, training, or curriculum-advising experience; and an active professional network within the healthcare industry that can benefit MHA students and the broader program.
