Job description

We are looking for a strong Branch Leader to join our Team!
Job Description
The Branch Executive Director reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of branch operations. This position is responsible for driving operational excellence through membership sales, growth and retention, financial stewardship, facility operations, program development, staff and volunteer leadership, strategic planning, marketing, fundraising, risk management, and community engagement. The Branch Executive Director ensures the branch delivers exceptional member experiences while advancing the YMCA's mission, values, and strategic priorities.
The Branch Executive Director develops and inspires high-performing teams by recruiting, mentoring, and empowering staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and exceptional customer service. Working closely with the Advisory Board, community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders, this position builds meaningful relationships that strengthen the YMCA's impact and expand opportunities to serve the community.
Qualifications
• Six or more years of progressive leadership experience in a YMCA, nonprofit, recreation, or community-based organization.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Business, Recreation, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading operations, including staff leadership, financial management, membership growth, program development, fundraising, and community engagement.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, financial, and technology skills with the ability to lead change, develop high-performing teams, manage multiple priorities, and build collaborative relationships.
• YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
• Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of required YMCA training within established timelines.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Essential Functions
• Provide strategic leadership for all branch operations, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and exceptional member and program experiences.
• Champion a culture of excellence by driving membership growth, member engagement, retention, and a welcoming five-star experience for members, participants, staff, volunteers, and guests.
• Develop and manage branch budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies that support revenue growth, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
• Recruit, hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and outstanding customer service.
• Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs and services that meet community needs and align with the YMCA's mission and strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with Program Directors to establish performance goals, strengthen operations, ensure program quality, and achieve financial and membership objectives.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, government agencies, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders to expand the YMCA's community impact.
• Partner with the Advisory Board to advance the branch vision, strengthen community engagement, support fundraising initiatives, and achieve strategic objectives.
• Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and lead branch fundraising efforts, including the Annual Support Campaign, while supporting marketing initiatives and organizational growth.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, risk management practices, abuse prevention standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations while performing other duties as assigned.
• Serve as a leader in branch fundraising activities for the Annual Support Campaign, including the solicitation of funds to support financial assistance, military family initiatives, community outreach, and branch goals and objectives.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of consumers by maintaining professional boundaries, completing required abuse risk management training, following procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations, and adhering to mandated abuse reporting requirements.
• Perform Other Duties as Assigned.
