We service the upstate of South Carolina, Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina. Project Executive
Location: South Carolina (Office location for position will be either in Anderson, Spartanburg or Mt. Pleasant GC Office location)
Job Experience Needed: Candidates will need to have project based experiences and connections within South Carolina, Georgia or West North Carolina.
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Position Summary
The Project Executive leads business development, preconstruction, client services, and project management for an assigned sector at J. Davis Construction. The Project Executive is responsible for growing client relationships, winning new work, managing budgets and staff across the sector, and making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with high client satisfaction. The Project Executive also mentors the team and helps build a strong, low-turnover department.

Job Duties amp; Responsibilities
Business Development amp; Client Relations
  • Promotes and reinforces the company mission and core values at all times
  • Develop and maintain strategic client relationships that generate new business opportunities.
  • Lead project pursuits, presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to secure new work and expand market presence.
  • Support marketing initiatives and sector growth strategies.
  • Create and manage the annual business development budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively, in coordination with the Director of Business Development and COO
Project amp; Operations Leadership
  • Provide executive oversight for commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and contract compliance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Monitor financial performance, cash flow, and client satisfaction across assigned projects.
  • Support project teams with strategic guidance and problem resolution.
Team Leadership
  • Mentor, develop, and support Project Managers and operational staff.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
  • Promote company values, employee engagement, and professional growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership to improve processes and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, including business development and client relationship management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • Experience managing multiple commercial projects and leading project management teams.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contract delivery methods, including GMP, Lump Sum, CM at-Risk, and Design-Build.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin oversight.
  • Proven leadership, team development, negotiation, and risk management skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and client communication skills.
