About the Role
The Associate Vice President/Vice President for Partnership Development (AVPPD) provides strategic leadership and sets the vision for the development, significant growth, and execution of new university partnerships to advance the organization's mission and ambitious growth objectives. Accountable for the strategic health, long-term sustainability, and significant expansion of mutually beneficial partnerships, this role directly drives substantial increases in enrollment, enhances brand awareness, and expands pathways for Verto participants through proactive innovation and the strategic evolution of Verto's enrollment programs and services.
As a key senior leader, the AVPPD oversees the development of data-driven partnership models designed to integrate with the complex enrollment ecosystems of top-tier institutions. This leader will champion high-impact programs, orchestrate executive-level engagement strategies, and establish scalable processes to address the nuanced needs of prospective partners to ensure full alignment with meeting the academic and co‐curricular expectations of top 200 U.S. institutions.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President for Strategic Partnerships (EVP), the AVPPD will be a highly respected and influential higher education leader with a proven track record of exceeding ambitious goals. This leader will possess the exceptional professional acumen and credibility required to serve as a peer-level consultant and advisor to senior higher education leaders, including Chief Admission and Enrollment Officers.
What You'll Be Doing

Position will lead the full growth strategy—from initial outreach to closing the partnership—positioning Verto as a key partner for diversifying transfer student enrollment and revenue. By aligning Verto's programs with the specific missions of these institutions, the role will secure long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships that grow enrollment.
Internal Collaboration & Influence: Cultivate collaborative relationships across the organization. Serve as the voice of the partner to ensure internal product development and student services meet the high expectations of top‐tier university stakeholders.
Communication & Advocacy: Regularly communicate high-level insights and industry trends to the EVP, Strategic Partnerships Team, and broader Executive Leadership Team. Act as a thought leader on the future of the first year within the broader higher education landscape.
External Engagement & Brand Elevation: Engage with Chief Admission and Enrollment Officers (virtually and in person). Represent Verto at various conferences and lead high-level presentations and other engagements that move beyond tactical to strategic institutional alignment.
Partner Enrollment Projections: Collaborate with the EVP, Associate Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, Revenue Operations, and Enrollment to accurately forecast student matriculation.
Extensive Travel: 50% regularly; 75% during peak times. Meet regularly with prospective partners. Travel includes regular in‐person visits with Top 200 institutions, international site visits, and active leadership roles in key enrollment‐related organizations (NACAC, College Board, etc).
Who We're Looking For
Strategic Thinker: You can plot the chess moves 18 months ahead of time and develop a credible plan to deliver ROI to future partners.
Influential communicator: You are a thoughtful communicator who can sell ideas, gather resources, and rally stakeholders.
Strong Executor: You value getting things done, hitting deadlines, and achieving ambitious goals. You have a track record of delivering under pressure.
Humble Collaborator: You bring kindness and empathy to your working relationships and put the team's success before your own.
Mission-Driven: You deeply believe that education has the power to transform lives and you want to give more young people a chance to thrive.
Requirements and Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and 10-15+ years of leadership experience working in higher education (or adjacent field), including direct experience and expertise in or working closely with senior admission and enrollment management professionals. An advanced degree is preferred.
A track record of successfully leading complex initiatives through effective team management, with a strong commitment to coaching and mentoring to achieve their full potential and contribute to the organizational mission and goals.
