Job description

Amentum is seeking a Cook to support a Facilities O&M Services Contract. The Cook will be responsible for providing day-to-day support under the culinary areas of operations in banquet/ buffet style presentation. The facilities for Culinary are operating from 05:00 to 19:00 five to seven days a week and have competency for the following:
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
  • Comply and follow US Public Health Service, Food and Drug Administration, 2009 Food Code and revisions.
  • Comply with all site policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions to detail for the task at hand by the Executive Chef.
  • Prepare and follow recipes predetermined for the weekly menu.
  • Prepare, assemble, cook, and serve ingredients for menu items.
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and other cooks to prepare meals during dining hours.
  • Provide feedback to the Executive Chef daily in verbal or written communication.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain all food inventories for accuracy
  • Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures per health code
  • Prepare, clean, and restock dinning and kitchen areas for subsequent shifts by the end of your shift.
  • Perform jobs/tasks in an outside unconditioned environment at times(rare), while working in the hot and humid weather.
  • Occasionally set up and serve breakfasts, brunches, and evenings dinners in non-typical dining areas.
  • Work with the O&M supervisor for any equipment failures and facility failures.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • H.S. diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ yrs. experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry with banquet/ buffet style cooking.
  • Provide applicable certifications.
  • Able to read, follow, and execute standardized recipes.
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
  • Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.
  • Currently have Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy to navigate online required training, time keeping, and email.
  • A valid Driver's license form applicant's home state is required.
Additional Duties:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Being fit for duty.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly or as needed performing various assigned task.
  • Ability to do the following for extended periods of time: stoop, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and carry.
  • Ability to stand 8-10 hrs. per day.
  • Ability of a flexible schedule to be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and at times most holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and have flexibility to move from one task to the next or work multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be able to work in a team environment.

  • Reasoning ability.
  • Can define problems and collect data while establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation Details:

$28.00-$32.00
