Job description

The Athletic Training Teaching Assistant (TA) is responsible for assisting Core Faculty members predominantly in the classroom. The TA is generally an athletic trainer clinician who is interested in working more closely and more extensively with students while improving teaching skills under the mentorship of a Core Faculty member. While mainly helping with lab-based/experiential components of each class, the TA who shows aptitude may be called upon to deliver a lecture or a component of a lecture. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and a desire to develop and refine teaching skills. The term of employment is one semester, but some TA's may be hired for multiple semesters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Licensed athletic trainer from an accredited athletic training program (bachelor or master)
  • On occasion, a new graduate who will sit for the national board examination in the near future will be considered

Experience and Training:

  • Clinical employment as an athletic trainer
  • For the new graduate, successful completion of all clinical experiences

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Expertise in the specialty area of athletic training in which assistance with teaching occurs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Didactic or clinical teaching
  • Assist Core Faculty member with student learning, evaluation and assessment
  • Maintenance of a clean and safe classroom environment
  • Other duties as directed by the Course Director
