Job description

Experienced Executive Assistant to the CEO | C-Suite Support | Champaign County, IL
Location: On-site, Champaign, Illinois | Champaign County | Central Illinois
Bruegge and Co is hiring a highly experienced, energetic Executive Assistant to provide high-level CEO support in a fast-paced, on-site role in Champaign County. This position is ideal for a polished communicator and project management super ninja who thrives in executive support, enjoys being the trusted right hand, and takes pride in keeping calendars, communication, travel, meetings, projects, and priorities running smoothly behind the scenes.
About Bruegge and Co
Bruegge and Co is a fifth-generation family business with six retail locations and a distribution center across Central Illinois. For 154 years, we have protected our legacy, built lasting relationships, and looked ahead with courage. Our purpose is to Live with Passion, Build for the Future, and Be Extraordinary.
Role and Responsibilities
This role is for a seasoned Executive Assistant, Senior Administrative Assistant, or C-Suite support professional who loves helping a leader perform at their best. Youโ€™ll manage complex calendar scheduling, executive communications, travel coordination, meeting preparation, project tracking, follow-up action items, reports, presentations, and confidential information. The right person is experienced, proactive, highly organized, professionally curious, and a super ninja at project managementโ€”energized by keeping people, timelines, details, and priorities moving behind a fast-moving CEO.
  • Provide full-time, on-site support in Champaign with regular travel across Central Illinois.
  • Prepare executive correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, meeting materials, and follow-up documentation using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other tools.
  • Own executive calendar management, scheduling, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, itineraries, and follow-through so priorities stay on track.
  • Drive project management follow-through by tracking tasks, deadlines, owners, updates, and next steps until items are completed.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Communicate clearly with leaders, departments, vendors, and store teams while building strong working relationships.
  • Serve as a professional liaison and gatekeeper, filtering information, prioritizing requests, and helping the CEO stay focused on high-impact work.
Who You Are
You are at your best when you are helping someone else be more effective. You do not need to be the person in front of the room; you enjoy being the steady, trusted support behind the scenes. You ask good questions, listen closely, communicate clearly, and take pride in learning quickly and getting details right.
  • 5+ years of experience in executive support, C-Suite or owner support, senior administrative support, office management, project coordination, or a similar high-level support role.
  • Energetic, eager to learn, coachable, and genuinely fulfilled by supporting others rather than being the lead decision-maker.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including email drafting, executive correspondence, meeting summaries, and professional follow-up.
  • Comfortable supporting a fast-moving leader with calm, discretion, and follow-through.
  • Super ninja at project managementโ€”able to organize moving pieces, manage timelines, follow up without being asked, and keep multiple priorities from slipping.
  • Understands how to prioritize, filter noise, and present clear, actionable information.
  • Unshakable discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Flexible for extensive travel, non-standard hours, and rapid response needs.
  • Strong technology skills with Microsoft 365, Outlook calendar management, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and related business tools.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Salary Starting Salary: $65,000
  • Close partnership with senior leadership and the chance to learn how a legacy business operates.
  • A support-focused role where strong communication, organization, and reliability are valued every day.
  • Full benefits including health, PTO, retirement options.
  • Onsite role with a supportive, high-integrity team culture where people care deeply, enjoy the journey, and take pride in doing extraordinary work.
  • When employees were asked why they stay, every single one said: โ€œthe people I work with.โ€
Apply
If you are an experienced Executive Assistant in the Champaign County area who communicates clearly, brings positive energy, and finds genuine satisfaction in helping a CEO and leadership team succeed, we want to meet you. We welcome candidates who care deeply, build lasting relationships, and enjoy the journey of doing meaningful work together.
