Job description

Sr. Director, MarketingAbout Us

The Arena is an independent studio creating global franchises inspired by the worlds of gaming, anime, and event action. With a world-class executive team and deep access to top-tier IP, it is uniquely equipped to build a modern fandom ecosystem. The Arena is a space for and by fans. It engages and expands committed fanbases through an always-on model of offerings, including premium film and television, robust social media communities and content, experiential events, and consumer goods. The Arena is committed to artistic ambition and excellence across its slate of blockbuster films and event series. Producing and financing projects made alongside renowned filmmakers and breakout talents, it aims to blend prestige-level quality with franchise scale, doing justice to some of the worldโ€™s most beloved properties and their fans.

The Role

The Sr. Director of Marketing is a senior creative and strategic leader who will own two essential pillars of our marketing operation: Title Campaign Marketing and Brand & Cultural Marketing. Reporting directly to the President of Marketing & Brand, and partnering closely with the Director, Community you will bring our IP to life across owned, earned and paid media, developing engaging go-to-market campaigns โ€” while simultaneously building The Arena as a brand that fans genuinely love and claim as their own.

This is a role for someone who lives in culture - who has taste, conviction, and the strategic muscle to turn creative instinct into measurable impact. Equal parts left brain and right brain. Deep passion for gaming, anime, and entertainment and lives and breathes pop culture.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Brand & Cultural Marketing

  • Build and evolve The Arena as a lifestyle brand โ€” one that Anime, Modern Action Adventure, and Gaming fans actively adopt as a means of self-expression and identity.

  • Develop the brand marketing calendar and cultural strategy, identifying moments, movements, and cultural intersections where Arena has genuine right to play.

  • Own Research and Tracking framework (Brand Tracker) that gain deep consumer insights, enable fan-first initiatives and track and measure our success.

  • Translate brand positioning into campaigns, activations, and content that feel native to the culture - not borrowed from it.

  • Identify and activate brand partnerships, talent, and cultural collaborators that expand the brand's presence and credibility with core and adjacent audiences.

  • Own the brand - ensure The Arenaโ€™s purpose and mission is always at the center, and we execute it consistently according to our values, in our tone of voice and visual expression

  • Maintain a sharp, fluid understanding of pop culture across gaming, anime, streetwear, music, and entertainment โ€” and actively bring those signals into Arena's brand decisions.

  • Serve as an internal creative conscience and brand steward โ€” ensuring every output reflects our premium-craft, non-generic standard.

  • Contribute to brand architecture decisions, seasonal positioning, and the evolution of Arena's visual and verbal identity over time.

  • Partner with Commerce org to leverage consumer product road map as brand building tool.

Title Campaign Marketing

  • Lead end-to-end go-to-market strategy for IP title campaigns โ€” from concept through execution โ€” spanning owned, earned and paid

  • Develop earned media strategies that build genuine fandom, awareness, and cultural conversation aroundThe Arena IP.

  • Own creative direction and campaign narrative for title launches; ensure every campaign is fan-first, culturally grounded, and true to the IP.

  • Partner with Director, Community, drive Arena's digital channel strategy across Webtoon, YouTube, and emerging platforms โ€” treating these as storytelling and community-building engines, not distribution channels.

  • Partner with streamers and platform partners on co-developed marketing programs that amplify reach and deepen audience connection.

  • Manage and inspire agency and production partners setting the brief, pushing creative, and holding high standards from concept to delivery.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

The best candidates for this role are true unicorns. Experienced in owning and managing their P&L, developing smart insight driven strategies, and are highly creative, yet able to produce all at the same time. They know what moves in culture and constantly think which role The Arena can play within. You should be comfortable taking ownership of tasks, identifying risks and owning your decisions. identify gaps before they become problems, work highly cross-functional and help bring clarity and structure to fast-moving conversations and ideas.

This role works best for someone who enjoys being close to the operational side of a fast-moving Entertainment company and who is motivated by helping teams execute at a high level.

This Role Is a Great Fit If you areโ€ฆ
  • Genuinely passionate about gaming, anime, and action entertainment, this isn't a portfolio move, it's a calling.

  • If you do the thinking 20.000feet up high, but have no issue rolling up your sleeves to get in and do the work that is needed.

  • Culturally fluid: you track trends without chasing them, and you know the difference between cultural participation and cultural tourism.

  • Both sides of the brain fully activated - rigorous strategist and instinctive creative in the same body.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and pace, we're building something new, and you'll help define what it becomes.

  • Collaborative, ego-light, and obsessively high-standard in your work.

  • A genuine fan of craft, in storytelling, design, production, and the culture that surrounds the IP we steward

Qualifications

  • 10โ€“12+ years in marketing, with significant experience across entertainment, gaming, anime, or consumer lifestyle brands such as fashion, sports or music.

  • Proven record leading title or tentpole launch campaigns with meaningful earned media and cultural impact.

  • Strong creative direction ability, capable of briefing, evaluating, and elevating agency work.

  • Deep fluency in digital platforms and content ecosystems โ€” YouTube, Webtoon, social, and beyond.

  • Production Experience

  • Experience with theatrical or streaming partnership marketing a strong plus.

  • Track record of building or repositioning brands with cultural resonance โ€” not just brand awareness.

  • Comfortable presenting and aligning executive stakeholders on strategy and creative direction.
