Job description

FP&A Director
About the role:
Curri is seeking an FP&A Director to build and own the company's financial planning and analysis function from the ground up. Right now finance bandwidth is stretched, and this role adds dedicated FP&A leadership to own forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and board reporting, freeing the CFO and VP Finance to focus on strategy. You will inherit a functioning but underbuilt finance function and make it meaningfully better: faster reporting, cleaner models, and significantly less manual work, deploying modern tooling and AI to get there.
What you will do:
  • Work with the finance team to redesign Curri's financial reporting infrastructure, moving from ad-hoc models to automated, scalable systems built on top of our existing data
  • Build and maintain automated monthly and quarterly reporting workflows that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy and speed
  • Deploy tools to accelerate financial analysis, scenario modeling, and narrative generation
  • Establish performance dashboards and KPIs that scale with the business and give leadership real-time insight
  • Lead and evolve Curri's core financial models including operating forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans in close partnership with the CFO and VP Finance
  • Build sophisticated models from scratch and improve existing ones and break complex business problems into clean financial components
  • Review monthly and quarterly budget variances and partner with department leads to identify drivers and recommend action
  • Support strategic initiatives through scenario analysis, ROI modeling, and ad hoc financial research
  • Lead the preparation of executive-level financial reporting and board-ready presentations, partnering with the CFO to deliver clear analysis and narrative
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Contribute to investor and board materials as the company continues to scale
  • Be the go-to financial resource for strategic and analytical requests across the business
  • Partner with executives across Sales, Operations, and Product to support planning, performance tracking, and decision-making
  • Analyze trends, variances, and key drivers to explain business performance and inform next steps
  • Serve as a close thought partner to the CFO, VP Finance and C-suite team on improving financial visibility, rigor, and execution across the company

What you need to have:
  • 5-8 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or a similar analytical finance role
  • Expert financial modeling skills, with the ability to build models from scratch and translate complex data into clean, actionable insights
  • Strong familiarity with modern FP&A tools and enough experience to know what to avoid and what to optimize for
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and using AI tools to accelerate financial analysis, reporting, or forecasting, not experimentation but shipped work
  • Systems-builder mindset that designs scalable processes and automations before defaulting to manual effort or headcount
  • High ownership and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a high-growth startup or similar environment

Bonus points for:
  • SQL proficiency and the ability to pull and manipulate data directly from source systems
  • Experience in a venture-backed startup or fast-scaling environment
  • Exposure to SaaS, marketplace, or operations-heavy business models
  • Familiarity with Curri's market: construction materials, last-mile logistics, or industrial supply chains
  • Based in Southern California with proximity to Ventura HQ for periodic in-person collaboration

What is in it for you?
  • Meaningful ownership and direct impact on company growth, with visibility into the full business from Day 1 and a close working relationship with the CFO
  • Opportunity to modernize and shape Curri's financial planning function, building it alongside a team invested in getting it right
  • Remote-friendly role with preference for Ventura-based candidates
  • Competitive salary, equity, and full benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401k
  • A team focused on meaningful work, personal growth, and long-term impact
