Position Title: Asphalt Paving Foreman - Operations


Position Overview

A Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner. They will be responsible for helping to keep projects on a realistic timescale and budget. They will be responsible for making sure supplies and tools needed for the project are available on the project vehicle / truck. A Foreman will lead and communicate to a project team, making sure they are aware of project details. A Foreman communicates with the Client to keep them up to date of any changes or delays.


Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel
  • Communication responsibility includes representing the company in a positive manner with the Client and its Employees. The Foreman will bring any of his/her Teams concerns to management.
  • Be aware of quality control and proper close out of project. Track Completion of project, monitor team performance, and close out all service requests.
  • Responsible for project planning / reporting. Ability to read drawings and maps – and convey plan of project to others.
  • Meet production targets and maintain or exceed quality standards.
  • Equipment maintenance: Manage equipment readiness by performing necessary maintenance prior to going into the field. (Infrared Machine, Patch Truck, Seal Coat Spray Rig, Squeegee Machine, Striping Machine)
  • Act as a safety leader and put safety first. Emphasize safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on all PPE safety gear and safety procedures.
  • Oversees the continuing education of employees in and around hazardous materials. Complies with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Keep accurate records with daily reports and communicate completion status to Operations Manager.
  • Bring out the best of field personnel by providing training, coaching, development, and motivation
  • Work to resolve conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably – and report and unsettled conflict to Operations Managers.
  • Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws


Qualifications

  • Sufficient knowledge of modern management techniques and best practices
  • Ability to meet production goals and be results driven
  • Familiarity with asphalt industry’s rules and regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective leadership and human resources management skills, including coaching and training skills and abilities
  • Computer skill with basic proficiency with Microsoft office products and windows-based software
  • Ability to be self-directed and individually resourceful, working independently when needed, and also within a fast-paced team environment
  • Always maintain professionalism and have strong customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic and expanding company


Experience / Requirements

  • 1 - 3 Years of experience leading an Operations team of 2 to 3 asphalt specialists
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Professional Demeanor
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams
  • Strong Organization Skills


Working Conditions / Physical Requirement
